Question for the cummins truck owners
I have a/c in mine I used the stock ford compressor in its stock location. The question is did any of you use the sanden or stock dodge compressor in its stock location? and if so where did you get hoses made? The reason I'm asking is I would like to convert the york to an air compressor for on board air.I converted the dodge a/c compressor to an air compressor but am having oiling issues.mostly to much oil in the air. A decent oil separator is expensive so I thought maybe for the cost I could switch them around.

I did, and I made my own lines. I took measurements, ordered the hoses and fittings, then called around to get quotes on getting the lines crimped. Turns out the tool to crimp them myself was only slightly more expensive than having it done, plus now I have a new tool and skill.

I did not mount my AC compressor in the stock location. I didn't want to do that much cutting on the frame. I built a bracket and mounted a Vintage Air compressor on the top left side of the engine. The hose and fittings came with the kit. I measured and cut the hoses to fit, and took the hoses to the local NAPA store. They let me use their crimping tool to crimp the hose ends on. I thought they would just use their hydraulic hose crimper but they said they had tried it and they always ended up leaking. The tool they had clamped in a vice and I used a ratchet and socket to tighten it and crimp the fittings. Mine has been in for 3 years now without a leak or problem.

There's room to lay a York on it's side above the alternator as well - easier on a 24V head with the way the upper mount is built, nice flat 4-bolt flange you can throw away and make an "L" bracket out of plate to set the compressor on and weld a couple ears on the bottom to hold the top of the alternator. Ran one that way on my old Dodge for years as an air compressor, works perfectly fine - just a thought. A 12V is slightly different there, but I'm sure it's do-able. I turned the center of a weld-pulley out to fit over the snout of the fan pulley, probably similar to what you have driving your current A/C, though - you might have to get creative there.....
Current one in the shop, still deciding if I want to do some frame surgery, looking at basically the same issue as you. Gotta have A/C, but love having OBAir!
