2015 P0170 Issue
Hey All,
About a year ago, my dad had this code come up on his truck. I cleared the code for him and it never returned. This week, I had this code come up on my 2015. No other codes, no drivability concerns. So, I cleared the code knowing this is a phantom issue that ford hasn't done much to address. It stayed off a day or two and now it is back on. I was wondering if anyone has accurately diagnosed this issue? I've checked air filters (they were clean), connectors, etc. and didn't see anything that would lead me to believe there is an issue. I know some people's has turned out to be a nox sensor in the exhaust. Any ideas on where I should start besides the items I did? I'd like to get this thing taken care of.
Thanks!
Jeremy
p.s. I am still under warranty, but there is no dealer near me, so that isn't an option.

The issue is I recently relocated to Sitka Alaska and the closest dealer is a 2 day ferry ride plus about 14 hour drive. Not an option for something small.

Try this: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ode-p0170.html
I STILL have had no p0170 since I removed prefilter.

Interesting. I might play around with that. I did see the new tsb for this, but 13 different systems that could cause it? I actually might throw s few parts at a couple of the common ones and see how it goes. Removing the pre-filter seems to be a good place to start. Not my preferred way to try and resolve issues.

I will add what little I can to this thread if it helps anyone pinpoint this issue.
I received the P0170 code within 10 miles of changing my air filter. Truck had 11,878 miles at the time of the filter change. This was the first time my truck had a check engine light occur since leaving the factory, no driveability issues and no other DTC's only the P0170.
The air filter was not filthy dirty but for $20 for an OEM filter I swapted it out for a new one anyway. I pulled a little harder than necessary on the MAF sensor connector during removal until I realized there was a lock that required pulling forward before the connector could be removed. My first thought was I disturbed that connection. I reset the code and double checked that the MAF connector was connected properly and wiggled the harness a bit at that connector. Engine light remain off until 2 days later.
Did some searching on FTE about this code and it appears others have commented that this issue could have to do with the MAF sensor, wires, connector or intake area. This concurs with what I have observed as this is same area I disturbed while changing the air filter.
I recently took a long trip over the Christmas holliday in which the engine light returned a total of 3 times during the 4000 mile trip. There was no consistancy when the code returned, warm weather, cold weather, high wind, no wind, snow, rain, etc. The returning of the code was random, some times it would trigger after 300miles of driving, other times it would trigger after entering the interstate just after a restart at a fuel stop.
I was hopping the light would return since the last reset (over 1000 miles ago) since I have an appointment for an upper oil pan leak repair at the dealer next week.
Like some others have stated, it seems like a threashold is too low and sets this code.
I also did a search for the P0170 DTC in my service manual and found the following:

Just returned from the dealership who addressed the issue for me. Will post back if the dtc returns in the future.
