Code P0170
Hey Everyone, coming up short on resolutions to this problem and am hoping someone could help. I am posting this for my dad.
His truck is a 2013 F-250 with the 6.7. He has 39k miles on it. He started the truck on Monday to move it out of the way of his motorcycle and noticed it had a check engine light on. No other symptoms noted. After 3 hours on the phone trying to help him pull the code, we finally got it. It is P0170. My dad stated last week that the truck did a regen the last time he drove it. He usually only tows with the truck. Nothing crazy. His service is impeccable and fully dealer maintained. He is suppose to leave on a trip tomorrow and doesn't have time for a trip to the dealer.
From what I've read, it doesn't appear to be serious, but there also doesn't seem to be a documented cause for this issue. His last fuel filter change was about 7k miles ago by the dealer. Nothing seems out of the ordinary from what I could tell.
Thoughts? I know some out there have experienced this, but no threads have documented resolutions.

I was having that issue of that code popping up on mine there for a while. No symptoms ever showed up like something was wrong, truck ran completely the same as when there was no engine light on. Long story short ended up taking it to the dealer when the light was on and they had to call the ford techs which told them they just had to reflash the ecm which they did and I haven't had the light come on since. Hopefully that is helpful.

Thanks Everyone. After lots of research, I've concluded that this is likely a minor issue if an issue at all. I had my dad clear the code with the scanner he bought and he left for his trip. Fingers crossed it doesn't come up again. As of last night, truck was running great and he had 500 miles on it since the light came on. So far so good. Fingers crossed.....

It won't shut him down on the side of the road and that is the main thing.

the big bugaboo on tge check engine light is that it can come on for lots of reasons that aren'the immediate service required items. And unfortunately if you do not have a reader to tell you, and you have one but don't
erase the fault, the light stays on. Meanwhile, down the road a real "immediate service" need arises, but the light is still the same light.
since last post there have been several instances where dealer used camera on a wire to "see" that the paper seal/cap under the screw on cap of fuel additive was at the bottom of the fuel tank. Pull tank, remove float assembly/sending unit and fish out the paper, reinstall, presumably with a new seal on the sending unit.
after a few flashes and an injector, mine went away for 10k miles. It is now back intermittently about 300 miles, then I made it 1,000. I just read to confirm same code, erase, and forget about it.
before I bought Torquepro and figured it out, I drove over 1k miles with the light on. That was after several trips to the dealer where they saw light and code but could not fix it other than flash and erase.

Anyways, I appreciate the information. I hope that someone will figure this one out at some point.

Prefilter? You mean the rail mounted fuel filter? If that's the case, that's a bad idea in my opinion.
