Made it back from Diamond Lake. We were wanting to go back just as soon as we dropped below the 3000 foot level on the way home. Another trip already planned....Granddaughters are glad to be home.
First night was spent at our ancient elk hunting camp that was long ago converted to a snow park. Granddaughters slept in the boat and had a blast.
Sthickly the Demon Kitty. She is ferocious and was on guard protecting us from the Timber Tigers.
She was outnumbered, outflanked, overwhelmed and failed in her mission!
View from our camp. I could wake up to this view every day and not even think twice about it.
Boat was 'beached' right at the edge of camp. Couldn't have been better. This is our favorite camp site bar none.
Fourth of July found us on the boat and anchored out on the lake pretty close to the barges that had the mortar tubes on them. Can't think of a better place to watch fireworks from and they always have a wonderful show.
Fish fry - bake in the camp fire...…….
These two young ladies are my 'Dutch' nieces. Their granddad was a long time partner, best friend and we were often referred to as brothers. (He was very much a surrogate brother who filled in for my brother who died at an early age) We did just about everything together. He was murdered and his wife grievously wounded in our Elk Camp 12 miles down the mountain from Diamond Lake a number of years ago in a revenge ambush attack. The girls father died at an early age from a heart condition. Both girls are sweethearts and the older one still really struggles from loosing her dad.
They love to go fishing with "Uncle Jim" and drive grandma absolutely nuts every time they even think we are at the lake. So, grandma has to bring them up to the lake for one or two days so they can go fishing with Uncle Jim. I'm the only male figure left in their lives that can or will take them fishing now. Grandma has some serious physical disabilities from the shooting and is not able to take them fishing.

Take good care of two young ladies, show them all you can about all that you know and do. Your payback is everytime they smile and will continue years from now when you'll see their successes in life.
Not sure what has happened. The bill that came in covered the period we were in Eastern Oregon last month. It shows enough water use to easily have filled someone's swimming pool (none of those within hose reach of us) or my little duck hunting pond out on the farm. Our utility supervisor was here earlier and we went over everything with a fine tooth comb and can find no leaks and the meter is not running unless we deliberately turn water on. So, positive that leaking pipe, toilet, faucets, etc. have no bearing on it. He confirmed the current numbers on the meter are matching the 'reads' and did a test and confirmed there is no meter error and the calibration is correct. I'm going to be taking daily readings on the meter and confirm that the average daily use is matching that of previous months usage. I guess I will have to put camera's directly on the outside bibs before we leave on the next trip.
I was amazed. New owners, some remodeling, holes patched, new paint, spruced up nice and the food was great. I had a Pina Colada with dinner and the Warden had a Margarita. She was making fun of me because I had mentioned that even though it almost tasted like they had forgotten to put the Rum in the drink, it was starting to hit like I had had 5 of the things and one of them had a mickey in it. By the time we had walked home, she flopped on the couch and in her old bar tender slang simply said, "They have a really heavy pour there". That was her way of maybe agreeing with me that the drinks were really strong - the closest I'll ever get to a victory with her anyway so I'll take it.
Not only does she know it, she makes sure I don't forget it! Ask anyone who was at the G2G!
