Sunrise on way out to the fishing grounds

First day’s catch
Morning everyone. Been out of country for a bit in NW Vancouver Island on salmon and halibut fishing trip. Had an awesome time. Round trip was 1271 miles and trip o meter estimated 14.6 mpg.

Nice catch! When I was about 12 years old we went up there and I caught a 113 pound halibut. Only thing caught on our boat all day.

I can’t imagine reeling in a 113 lb’r. That fish had to be nearly as big as you were lol. Get the impression that the big fish are getting caught out. Size and nbr restrictions now, which is a good thing, of 1 big fish 85-113cm and one little under 85 cm. Based on nbr of trips is a good thing.

I weighed 113 pounds at the time. Haha Took an hour to get it in. Kept it since that’s all we caught and had it processed and flash frozen. Came home with 75 pounds of halibut for the freezer!

Morning all. Linn County fair next week. Be the last one I will be helping with since the daughters last year and I'm getting burned out on it. Start setup Sunday, and take the critters in Monday.
