Okay folks, I just checked Ford's Microcat myself earlier this evening for my own amusement just to see what numbers I come up with. For clarity, I am a licensed Ford dealer technician employed with various Ford dealerships since January of 2000, and been employed at my current dealership since May of 2005. I am NOT a parts counterperson, nor is it my job to look up parts. So the information I'm about to pass on, is based entirely upon the knowledge I acquired voluntarily to navigate the parts catalogue. Having said all that, here it goes:

I've been told the base part number for a trailer brake controller can either be 2C006 or 19H332. However, on this particular vehicle, that is a 2018 F-150 without a VIN entered, I come up with a part number of JL3Z-2C006-AA with the base part number 2C006 entered. This part number corresponds to the TBM (Trailer Brake Control Module) according to the illustration. For further clarification, this would be the sliding lever controller situated below the 4x4 selector on the left center instrument finish panel as already mentioned in my previous post. A coin holder occupies this position on vehicles not originally equipped. Those of you with access to Ford's Workshop Manual, Section 206-10 for 2018 F-150 provides detailed removal and installation instruction.

Now onto 19H332. On this particular vehicle 19H332 corresponds to what is called the TRM (Trailer Module). With that base part number entered, I am given two choices and two numbers. The first number, FL3Z-19H332-D is for vehicles less assist packages. When checking availability, this part number changes up to the most current part number of FL3Z-19H332-B. The other part number GL3Z-19H332-C, is for vehicles equipped with pro trailer backup assist. This part number when checked for availability, changes up to its most current part number of GL3Z-19H332-B. So for clarity, this would be a module that is situated under the instrument panel to the left of the brake pedal, secured to a metal bracket by two bolts and three electrical connectors. The purpose of this part is to provide lighting control for a trailer. Ford's Workshop Manual Section 417-01 provides detailed removal and installation instructions for this part.

So, hopefully this clears up some confusion. Once again to recap, JL3Z-2C006-AA is the sliding control lever for the trailer brakes (the TBM) and there are two choices FL3Z-19H332-B or GL3Z-19H332-B for the trailer module (the TRM) depending on whether equipped with or without pro trailer backup assist.

Kudos to you for putting in the effort. I know it took you some time. Really I'm not kidding, which is why I have to follow up with the next part. Unfortunately the info you found isn't entirely accurate, and I can explain why.

First, there isn't a 19H332 TBM available for the 2018 F-150 anymore, it's been deleted. It's only still showing up in the Ford Accessory site, the Ford Accessory B2B master lists, and in the Ford Accessory print catalog (those are the last remaining spots I can find it still referencing fitting a 2018). Everything else has removed 19H332 TBM on a 2018 fitment until Ford releases an updated part number. So that's where part of the problem comes from when looking on your end, it doesn't exist anymore. It did, but it was deleted. You have to have an existing part number to reference forward or backward, in this case they just deleted without an R/B number.

Another thing is the 19H332 and the 2C006 aren't always different modules. They can also be the same.

For example, you found the JL3Z-2C006-AA to be a TBM (Trailer Brake Control Module) with the sliding lever controller. The JL3Z-19H332-AA is also a TBM with the sliding lever controller. If the truck wasn't equipped and the dealer would go to install it for a customer, the part you be handed on the back counter would be the 19H332, and that would come from either the Ford PDC or your regional FAD. 19H332 is more readily available and parts departments typically order those over the 2C006.

If you look up the 2C006 for the 2018 F-150 in DOW/DOESII, it's on ordering constraint because there is a shortage in supply, hence why the 19H332 has not been released to dealers yet. My best guess is Ford doesn't want to hold up production for short supply on trailer brake controllers.

So part of what you found steered you in the wrong direction because of a supply shortage and erased part number.

FL3Z-19H332-B and GL3Z-19H332-B are in fact different modules. Notice the differences in the suffix. The TBM has two letters as a suffix, the TRM has a single letter.

This is what drives people in dealerships absolutely crazy. I feel for you dude, I really do. You went through some trouble to research only to have incomplete info on your side.

A dealer told me that they are not needed for an F150. I said, then how do I control the brakes on the 7000 pound trailer that the truck is equipped to tow?
...crickets...
Sales departments are clueless when the staff can't even explain some of the features on the truck. I asked to see what the trailer tow mirrors looked like. "Oh you only get those on heavy duty trucks".
Wish you could buy a truck through Amazon.

I have one person I deal with, and have been for 15 plus years. I just about have her trained, LOL. She has more knowledge on trucks that most men do! Also if there is a rebate available she know about it!

I'm left a little confused.....I want to add the in-dash OEM trailer brake controller to my 2019. Which part do I need then - JL3Z19H332AA OR JL3Z-2C006-AA ??

Thanks for the additional info, but I still don't know whether I need JL3Z-19H332-AA or JL3Z-2C006-AA, or whether it matters which one I buy.

In that post I directed you to is this: #GL3Z-2006-CB or JL3Z-2C006-AA
So get the latter part number (that you had) as I think the two I have listed are cross references to the same part. Good luck on the install!

The listing on Amazon says it's for a 2015, but it works for 2015+ I guess? I have a 2019.

I am looking at these two purchases:

Amazon Amazon

Amazon Amazon

...based on this video:

Thanks!!

P.s. Been a Chevy man all my life (owned 5 various Silverados over the years). This is my first F150 and I am in love.

I googled the part number I gave you and all over the place, it says for 2015+ or 2015-2019 etc. at Ford Dealers. For less than the part you linked (more like $90). That is the part my friend ordered and installed in his late build 2018, so it works... I didn't watch the video but assume it tells you how to get the dash apart and get the unit in.

And here, save ya' a buck (also know it works):
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N18TOFB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N18TOFB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Best of luck,
Scott
