Have you run a Cody test to see if injector orings are a problem, or if an injector(s) is stuck?

I just had a stuck injector from a fresh reman set as DOA. Found it with the test.

1. Isolate HPOP from the heads.
2. Isolate heads from each other if you have HPx installed
3. Pressurize head (one at a time) with 100psi air and listen for air leakage. If you have it under one of the valve covers, remove that cover and repeat test to narrow it down to which injector(s) involved.

I removed the HPO line from HPOP and connected there for each head using this new tool I made:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post17629276

More details on building it here:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post17629306

If you replaced your HPOP fittings for the HPO hoses, use one of those to drill and tap to 1/8" NPT (same size as most of the EGT sensors, so many people have the tap)

It may seem like a pain, but it REALLY makes testing and isolation easier. For me, it also showed that my attempts to free the injector did NOT work.

I currently have an injector in transit and hope it comes back in the next few days, at which time I'll be testing again before buttoning her all back up to run again for the first time in 4 months(!)

IMHO, it is definitely worth putting together before ordering injectors. Maybe you need them anyways. But you want to be certain. If it is just orings...

IR gun to the manifold of each cylinder is a great way to identify which injectors are performing poorly, but that test doesn't narrow down what kind of problem -electrical, orings, injectors in that cylinder.

It's worth a shot.

I have an AN fitting on p/s head at #5 injector location for hpop psi purposes for use of an analog gauge. Why couldn't I affix a fitting to that AN fitting, pop off the hpop line on d/s head, pop the p/s hpop line off at hpop and attach to d/s head hpop fitting..?

If I follow you correctly you are hooking the two heads together via the HPOP fittings on top and eliminating the HPOP from the program then pressurizing the heads through an AN fitting in another one of those holes. Yes,
that can be done.

Any method that isolates the heads from the HPOP and does so without leaks and with correct fittings that fit the threads/connectors/whatever can be used.

You said you have AN fitting there? Did you replace your head fittings with AN and then use AN hoses? Got a pic?

My 2002 Excursion has a 90 deg sweep elbow that may look similar to AN, but it is STC hydraulic quick disconnect fitting. You have something different?

I chose the HPOP side of the hose because it is easy to access (thanks, Mark!) and I could isolate the head from the HPOP and have access to pressurize the head, all with the disconnection of just one fitting.

I suppose a Tee with two STC fittings on it would allow both HPOP hoses to be connected at the same time, thereby accommodating systems with HPx installed. The volume of air used is pretty small, shouldn't be an issue?
