" You'd have to get one long enough to stick all the way through so you could unscrew it."

Why not leave it in and use as a stud? Or better yet, use an actual stud.
Just helped Pete do this job on my Ex (I was the aforementioned "second set of hands") and while I wasn't paying attention too closely, I don't believe there is enough clearance to pull the cooler away from the block to clear the studs, if used.

Good point.
Finally got it on. Had to put it on hold a couple days. Checking it tonight to make sure the seals are all in right. They were lubed up pretty good when I put it all together so I don't see why they wouldn't be.
Haha. That's good. I had the front header a little off kilter. Turned it a bit and it went right on. I really appreciate everyone's help on this forum. I'm sure I'll have more questions.
While I was flushing the system this morning, the truck was idling and real quick the engine kind of lurched then was gone just as fast as it came. Never came back over the course of twelve minutes. The gauges didn't do anything funny other than when it first started I killed it because it didn't build oil pressure fast enough for my liking. I assume because there was close to none anywhere in the cooler or anywhere else. It almost sounded like when you first start the truck, but it was already idling. It was a couple seconds after I turned the heater on. Was it just a freak thing?
There was probably enough oil in the HPOP reservoir to run for a few seconds and the pressure dropped while filling the system. It may take a while for everything to get back to snuff.
Yes. If it sounds good now it's okay. Low pressure oil runs the high pressure reservior to fill it. When the system first kicked on your cooler wasn't full yet so it had to fill. No high pressure oil and the engine shuts off.
Is there a special socket to use for plugs with a square head? It's not indented but I guess you would call it "male". Like a drive on a ratchet. I believe I had a question on this plug earlier in the thread. I can't seem to get it out to fit the line in for the coolant filter. Next step is either a special socket or maybe try a bolt extractor socket. I don't really want to weld a nut on it. I'm putting the truck back together without fitting the filter for today but will come back to it this week.
Mine took an Allen wrench. I sprayed it with KROIL one day before removing and it came out without any problems. Whatever size wrench you can get on there nice and tight is what I would use.
