So I typed in coolant I also typed in Motorcraft coolant and compatibility apparently I'm typing in the wrong things in the search so please forgive me. That being said I have a 2015 F350 6.7 liter my question is it has the factory coolant in it as of now which I believe is the orange what is compatible to use with this the dealer wants 23 bucks per gallon I want to know if I go to the auto parts store up the road what to ask for or look for help me out I got a road trip out to Colorado this Friday there are no issues with the truck no leaks no nothing but just in case it doesn't hurt thank you?
The orange coolant is basically DEXcool. Motorcraft is going to cost more at the dealer. Some part houses may stock it. When I plan on changing mine it will bee a coolant that meets the Ford/DEXcool specs. Probably use Preston or DEXcool or maybe Wal Mart if it states the Ford spec on the bottle.
Meets or exceeds the requirements of WSS-M97B44-D, GMW 3420 (superseded GM 6277M) and ASTM D 3306...DEXcool.
I was going to revive the old thread that linked here so instead...Not trying to hijack this thread, but since it's about coolant and I have a coolant question...here goes:
I found an old thread here when I searched for 6.7 coolant and vloney said this:
"The correct stuff has to use OAT (organic acid technology). The way it was described to me, is the OAT actually "eats" into the coolant passages, eventually forming a coating that prevents the "sand leaching" that we're all familiar with."
Does anyone have knowledge about this idea? and if so, is that why not many use a coolant filter on their 6.7s?
I have also been searching for a test strip kit for our engines online and it seems all I find are the big kits instead of smaller ones. Does anyone have a good source for these kits? Thanks..
Nitrite test strips are the same as one used for the 7.3 coolant system. You are only testing the absence of nitrites. The other parts of the strip are not used.
