This may be a dumb question, but I have the green coolant in my 2000 F350 and am going to install the 203 thermostat/billet housing/coolant filter later today. Is there an actuall diesel specific coolant that I need to use? I have the bottles of SCA to add back in. Is the coolant still mixed 50/50 with distilled water like a normal car? Is there a brand that is better than another. I think eventually I will change all of the coolant, but for now just what I take out.
Thanks.
Jsut get the Motorcraft one for now. When you change it totally and flush the hell out of it, use a Zerex G05 gold coolant so you don't need to screw with the SCAs.
With all the coolant debat I've seen lately, I like what aklim said an just get the Motorcraft stuff. And, yes, still between a 50/50 to 70/30 mix, just like a regular automobile. Or, if you're feeling really ambitious, you could serch back through all the old coolant threads to find out for sure what to look for. But, if you've got parts to install, you probably don't want to be online.
drain 3-4 gallons out of the petcock on the bottom. it will drain the system enough to be able to do the thermostat and filter install at the waterpump without spilling any water. and then just put it back in the recovery tank at the top and let it go. it shouldn't need any extra, maybe a quart.
I did this on my Ex, HERE is the link to how and what I did. I did a flush and replaced everything with G05 and distilled water and added the 203* and coolant filter along with the behind the belt upper radiator hose all at the same time.

wow that is a great link! gives me the incentive to do it. already have the 203, billet and filter, just now need to do the flush. the routing of the return line of the filter is very nice looking.
