Pricing out new transmissions and seeing if I can find a cooling system pressure tester I can borrow..

Good idea, test the cooling system where it sets.

I don't think that you'll find anything. I think the antifreeze got in the bell housing when the heater was disconnected when it was removed from the doner truck.

That was 16 years ago...

I know, the water would have evaporated but the antifreeze wouldn't have and it hasn't been run to warm it up, until you started it.

Could you of spilled some down the vent on top of the bell housing while installing the heater hoses?

Maybe you had the hoses stuck in that vent at sometime to hold them for the last 15 years?

There is no vent and the heater hoses were dry when I installed them. I still believe it might be the frost plugs above the motor mounts but have to remove the mounts to see

I sure hope that you don't have to remove the engine to get to those plugs.

I may have to lift it a bit and remove the mount one side at a time..
