The attic is pretty much open at the moment..

basement would be trickier cause of the steam pipes to the radiators

That will make it a pain. Glad that our home was built with A/C.

Another option are the mini-Split units.. Like putting a window unit in the wall, but the motor and condenser is outside so much quieter..

You can add as many as needed... No duct work

BIL&SIL in Chattanooga have one in an added room. Was pricey but they like it.

I saw on the news tonight that parts of Chicago are flooded. We have a flood warning until tomorrow morning.
