Got NFab steps for a steal. Stainless. Are for a CrewCab Shortbed Superduty. Extra long so step reaches to wheel. So a bit long. Ended up cutting 18" or so off
Old steps were rotten beyond belief. Got to do some inner rocker repair in spring. Nothing structural. And pinch seam is ugly. Salt sucks!
Rust
All done
And finally put the front swaaybar back on. Been removed for months. And of course damn links are popping. Brand new, so going to german torque in morning
Looking great! Really like the bars and lights. I was using the light from my puddle lights tonight while bolting the radius arm brackets on for my conversion. Good for things other than puddles...
Installed 3rd row headrests. Very easy install. About 1.5hrs all told.
All the tools you need for this
Donor was a 98-03 Ford Windstar. 3rd row. Match very well with my 2000 seats
3/8" posts
Skinned the seat
Hog rings (x6) on back top portion
Used a hammer to lightly adjust that weird upper wire portion. Then drilled out holes just barely big enough to accept headrest posts.
Rinse, repeat
All done
And installed in the truck. I'm happy.
Word of caution. Notice how the passenger side one isn't exactly square. I drilled all of my holes based on symmetry. I didn't realize the sub-frame wasn't symmetrical. So the passenger side needs to be offset 1". Minor, but a stupid mistake on my part. I could just redrill and reset, but it's close enough
all on my own. Years ago I read that when it was first written. Haven't looked at since though. I remembered I had the headrests in the garage. I bought some at least 4yrs ago for the old Excursion. Had the day off and it just clicked
Wish I had looked up the Tech folder. I bet there is a comment about the screw-up I made. Lol...oh well. Live and learn
Also swapped the 2nd row and 3rd row headrest. The bigger ones blocked view in the 3rd row. Smaller ones look better back there, and still work fine for kids head height
