Tires finally came in. Went and mounted/balanced them myself on Base for $6
Initial impressions are that I like them. They hum...a lot. But ride very nice. And my outgoing Firestone Steeltex were trashed. Hell, 2 of the rims didn't even have weights. Explains a lot of issues I was feeling/hearing
285/75R16 Treadwright Warden A/T
Next to my spare that is brand new Firestone Steeltex in 265/75R16
Makes the lift not so apparent. Almost looks like factory gaps now. I like it. Still need to install rear leafs and 1" lift shackle up front. Currently sits 25" at all corners. Looking to achieve 26-27" rear and 26" front
I'm lazy and haven't gotten around to "ordering" a hub grease fitting from Snowseeker...so I improvised for now.
the threaded fitting that a zirk fitting screws onto is a decent fit. it held enough pressure on the ABS fitting hole that I was able to put almost 1/2 a tube of grease into each hub. Kept going until I only got clean grease extruded out the joint
also replaced front rotors. better fix that damn shimmy from my warped rotors
Broke more tools last night tearing down passenger side for balljoints and seals. I'll have a completely rebuilt front axle very soon. Just need to find some replacement nuts (4) for the new retaining hub bolts. The old ones were destructed upon removal
Finished my front axle rebuild. New everything including hubs. Drives like a new car. Maybe 1/4" of slop before steering response and tracks nice/straight. Expensive, but well worth the time and effort.
The old hub nuts were rusted out and Ford doesn't carry. Found a doorman substitute luckily for $16.
And a new transmission position sensor. Old one was rusted and super hard to shift gears.
And then installed my new driver grab handle. It's from a 04 Superduty
If you want-new-to-you 00-05 door panels (with all the storage intact), let me know. I can get them easily at the Gold Mine. Looks like yours have seen better days...same with the center console lid...can get those as well.
Thx bro, but I actually have that panel piece. It pissed me off and suffered for it last month. My X is an old Firefighter Chief truck. Luckily the put new heads/tails in when civilianizing it. But still mounting holes everywhere
I'm from Belton actually. Wife and i are planning on renting a 24' trailer next year and yanking to Austin. I may hit up your boneyard then
Finally got my rear leafs installed. Been a 3 day rollercoaster due to rust and fasteners breaking.
Ended up doing the Modded B codes method. Red leafs are the "B" code equivalent. Green are inserts from OEM "G" codes
Will give it a few days to bounce around and settle before I measure. I have a 1" lift shackle in the garage, not sure that I want to use
Initial impressions are good. I went down a washed out gravel road that we frequent in the 2015 Tahoe. The X goes down it much nicer than the Tahoe. Enough so that the wife noticed. Win
