Rare?

Hello all. Have trolled this site for quite some time based on my '66 F100 6cyl 'farm truck'.

Bought about a month ago in great basic shape (for me) and have been working on ever since.

It's a '59 F250 2wd 292 with Factory cruise-o-matic (D2/D1/low) and power steering. All original.

Been trying to educate myself on this vehicle, but have not seen another example. Is this rare? Seems common sense this particular vehicle would have been marketed as a work truck - was surprised to see the automatic.

Any help/comment/feedback Appreciated!

Those two options are pretty rare for a ½ton (F100), and I would think the production numbers are even less for a ¾ton!

Thanks Hardlyrider! Have no intention of changing anything -'cept if it gets thing closer to original. The automatic takes some getting used to. Just drive it like it was a standard (let off gas) annd shifts smoothly.

Working on it just good clean dirty Fun!

Thank You! ND Great Information! Is there a way to differentiate between the transmissions, or a good reference source? This one functions as the selector shows. Low is only low; D1 goes from 1-3; D2 goes from 2-3. Cool to know a Dealer did that level of options (p/s). Any way to tell either way? Steering wheel could gave been changed out by an owner I guess - good attention to detail if so! Thanks Again!

Interesting. I've never heard of power steering but that horn ring is pretty compelling. Do you have a picture of the whole steering wheel? Also interesting is the oil filter canister. I don't recall ever seeing one of those, maybe part of the power steering if there wasn't room for an oil filter on the block.
I would also be curious to know the part number of the back of the horn ring and have it deciphered.

Thank You WB! Here is a picture of the whole steering wheel (pardon the seat - another battle to come). The canister is indeed the p/s fluid canister - the plumbing beneath it is on the agenda this weekend along with the water pump. Will get the steering wheel off and get that information! Appreciate the help greatly!

It's a remote mounted P/S pump reservoir.

Thanks again for all the Great information! Trying to do some CSI on this thing. Im in the SW Mo Ozarks. Bought it from a classic car place (DrivinDreams) not far away. Nice guy there told me he just got it in Wichita - not much other info. My neighbor/mechanic/Wiseman thinks it is not far from where it grew up - the KC assy Plant seems to support that. I would like to know how original is it - and how I can make it original-er! Its had recent body work and appears to be a quicky-paint job (yes, another future battle!).

that auto with power steering is so rare of a combination.been selling parts for over 30 years,only seen 1 with power steering ,but that horn ring saying power steering,is one rare bird you have there,enjoy what you have,not many have that if any even around anymore,

Thanks! My neighbor/Wiseman who has been in it that long and knows exactly Everything says the same thing. Glad to get it back on this side of the border (KS/MO)!!
