Spark plug socket stuck

i just purchased an '01 expedition with the 5.4. I was told #5 spark plug blew out. Upon examination, it appears to be #6, second from the front driver side. Anyway, as I was looking, it just didn't look right. There was a spark plug socket stuck in the well, with the plug still in place. Any suggestions on how to get the socket out? I can get an extension on it and it will turn, but it's tight. But I can't pull the socket out.

Can you get a tool with a bent tip to get in through the 3/8" opening, hook the inside of the socket, and use that to pull it out?

Also for changing plugs in my truck I bought a gear wrench socket that has a permanently attached extension. Kept loosing the socket in the hole once the plug was tight.

It sounds like that, beside the socket being stuck in there, the thing will turn but the plug won't back out suggesting a failed insert or helicoil or a set of stripped threads.

This is going to be messy....

I've been trying to get it out with a pick. Not having much luck. Thinking about starting the truck to see if it will blow out again.

Get an extension in it, then turn it rapidly with an air tool or drill as you pull it upward. The trick here to try and break the friction as you're lifting.
