Rico, thanks for the pics. I really like your 56. Show us more pictures sometime.

Your area of Germany reminds me of Lancaster county where I grew up. My ancestors came from the Palatinate in 1722.

@fordslut: yep - next time with more cars, more cold drinks and maybe some meat
@abe: yes, the countryside is in many places very similar to that in Virginia or Pennsylvania, You once posted a pic that could have been taken right here

Well, I now officially hand that thread back to Ingo

Rico, your truck is beautiful!
Abe, my ancestors also came to Philadelphia from Germany just a little later than yours, in 1744 from Mauchenheim.

it´s along time ago i posted about my 56 ... thats because nothing happend in the meantime

Now, after uncountable times i stand underneath my Truck, i found a crack in it´s Frame...

i´m not sure right now if i should just weld it and reinforce it or better box the whole frame?
What do you guys think?

I would stop drill the end of the crack, bevel and weld, and then add a small gusset to prevent any future cracking in that spot.

Hi Ingo,

nice to hear of you! Hope you`re fine. I`d do the same as ZSK adviced. The frame has enough thickness. But I think You`ll need to weld that from both sides. Unfortunately it seems directly under the cab

Well that pumped me up again. Just had the guy over here that is going to paint the fire wall and frame. Then I can start putting all together again. This is an amazing thread. Thanks to all that have contributed to it. Ingo I love your skills.

yes i guess i will weld the crack, put a reinforcement plate on top because i can´t weld it from both sides, and maybe i decide to box the whole frame

again more than a year has passed.
Okay i ordered and cut some tubing for a X-Member :

i plan to build and next week i will restart my project.
I will box the rest of the frame and weld the X-Meber in.
This is pretty close to how i want to build the X-Member :
