Not true. TFL did this same test with the maximum RAM and the new F-450 towing 30k up the IKE. The 2017 F-450 was MUCH FASTER than the RAM, as expected. Of course the truck tested here and that 450 have the same engine, and gearing with the tire differences is nearly a wash. So kind of strange.
If the Ford was in regen mode, it would not make as much power. But what's the likelihood of an active regen happening towing that much weight up the IKE? It would be a passive regen all the way.
No way in real life that RAM is quicker. It is always the slowest of the bunch. But I'll give GM credit where it's due...those D-maxes have always been potent.
was the test of the new f450 and the ram 3500 towing 30k this same test? So we can compare the times?

Yes. That is the good thing about TFLTruck, they run essentially the same test, timing the runs from the same point to the same point, driving in near similar ways.

ok thanks, good to know. So in this test towing ~23k, the f350 did it in 10:31.88. The f450 towing 30k did it in 11:23.00. Lol so with 7k more trailer weight and the increased weight of the 450 over the 350, the 350 was only ~51 seconds quicker? And the difference between the chevy and the Ford was 16 second? Lol ya something is going on with that 350.
It's easy to dismiss the results when they are as close as they are and the conversation today is pretty predictable. I of course think I made the right decision and would do the same thing again after the TFL results.
The thing I hate is the gloating going on over at the Cummins forum. It's going to be all in your face for the next several months. Just grossness. The difference is that the Ford crowd doesn't indulge in that. It's just like game day between rival schools. It doesn't matter if it's a blowout or a win by a field goal. A W is a W and we're going to hear about it over and over.

Yeah, it annoys me as well...but I feel most manufacturer fans are equally guilty.
I would really like to see this test repeated one more time with different (but exactly the same) trucks. I strongly feel the Ford *should* be quickest up this hill with any load, or at least neck and neck with the Chevy.
I've watched quite a few of the comparisons in the past and I always thought the Ford came out on top usually...the results here are a bit surprising, that's for sure.
Did anyone dig up the comparisons from the '16 or prior super duty's?

Sure, here's the same test with a 2015 F-350 dually, 6.7L, and presumably 3.73 gears. It pulled 21,600lbs up the IKE in 9 minutes 45 seconds. This was the 440/860 engine. It achieved 2.7mpg.

It's always a bigger deal when the underdog wins because the best team had a bad day. Too bad it was a single game and not a 3 game playoff.
Just wondering if the driver assist or whatever it's called would slow the truck down when passing or coming up on another vehicle and not really realize it? I would think they must of encountered some traffic out there.
