I backed up to the front door and unloaded everything into the front room, no wife would tolerate this.
this is just the screw drivers
1/2" and under in the drawer
pliers, cutters
not a big socket collection but theres a 3/4" drive and a 3/4 x 1/2 adapter
the electrical tool drawer
the plastic kit is an interchangeable body hammer set
ball joint, bearing puller kits
Some of this was seperate from the tool box but I also picked up a torch welder set of hoses with 2 cutting torches and a parts n pieces lot plus a cart load of new nuts and bolts with mounting plates, mounting brackets, concrete anchor bolts, 3 paint guns with air hoses, literally a ton of stuff. The tool boxes were total cost of about $640, and I spent a total of $1000 plus $50 taxes. Theres still stuff that I haven't listed.
In about a month to 6 weeks there's supposed to be a 220 milling machine showing up, I'll have another chat with Rick the auctioneer and will ask him for pics and will see if I can buy it off the truck or maybe go to the farm its at and pick it up so that it doesn't even make it to the auction.
I have enough tools to justify a tool box this size and the tools that came with it are a bonus and fill out the tools I'm lacking. This week will be the start of setting up the shop and cleaning the yard and should last a month. The wheels will be coming off the tool box and the box will go on a 2x4 platform and get bolted to the wall, theft proofing. It'll help having one or 2 of my cameras in the shop also.
I'd use the stock frame and build from there but I need to get a frame and body first..
I have 4-5 bodies and frames John, you can see them when you`re here this summer.
Thanks for posting the pictures Perry, that buy still blows me away.
How heavy is that milling machine?
Just hope I can make it out that way Morris, still early yet. Maybe I should think of putting a hitch on my 56...lol Not sure how it would handle a trailer though..or if my insurance would cover it if pulling a trailer..
I don't have a trailer at all, would likely have to rent one out there like a U-Haul and drop it off in Dryden or Red Lake. Likely have to make a second trip with my 99 Chevy
If its a knee machine that's of decent quality it'll start at 750 - 800 pounds, if its a 3 phase power it would start at a ton for a small machine Morris.
I've got a cousin just outside of Winnipeg that has 60 acres John and on it he has some 50s era trucks, if your in anyway serious it would give me reason to continue getting to know that side of the family again. They're solid people and now that the family instigator is out of the picture we're starting to get along together. It might even be worth my while to go out there myself as that's my old stomping grounds and I still know a lot of people out there.
Is it that rough a neighbourhood that you have to go to all the trouble of theft proofing your tools Perry? Having a couple of cameras is always a good idea. 750 - 800 pounds is a pretty hefty machine, do you have 3 phase power in your shop?
When I brought my son`s 86 Capri back from Calgary with a rented aluminum U Haul trailer that weighed hardly anything at at all. When I was towing it empty with my F150 I didn`t even know it was there John.
My Uncle was well hooked up in that part of Manitoba and I'm sure my cousins were more than wise enough to maintain his contacts John.
This area is pretty tame but it's best to be safer than sorry, my role as the neighborhood watch leader makes me a problem according to our Police force. The crime rate sky rocketed when I moved out of the old place and now that house is a junkie house again which is what the CPS in this area wanted. The place that I was supposed to move into became a squatters house and the owner was served notice to clean it up and out. The squatters used to work for the contractor thats still renovating it 18 months after he started. The place still doesn't have an occupancy permit. The owner lives in Vancouver and is getting victimized by the contractor. The contractor is a good responsible businessman and isn't the problem, I am the problem according to one squad of cops in this area, that was as of January of this year.
How are you doing tonight Ian?
It is better to be safer than sorry in any neighborhood Perry. It`s a pretty solid place here too but once in a while problems do come up.
There's a 220 line to the shop but its disconnected and the power here appears to have been messed with. I want to have all the electrical system checked and repaired so that I can have 30 amp 220 service run to the shop and have 3 plug ins installed. There's also some 110 lines installed in the shop that need to be repaired and a few more installed. Some of the work I can do but I want someone who really knows what they're doing to make sure this place is more than safe.
