Anyone want to speculate on what they're doing, or fixing? He's holding a double flare tool, and she appears to be reaching in front of the radiator?

You forgot about him holding a wrench near the battery terminal (been there done that).
My guess is posing for a picture (grab something and look busy), although she does appear to have a wire harness or rubber tubing in her hand. She is smart by not wearing her wedding ring (if she has one) while working on the car.

I think you're looking at the upper grille brace. Maybe she's just leaning on it, and all the work is going on behind.
