Looks to me like an attempt at tracks to keep them up on the sand .

It seems like in the "old" days, capacity had more to do with how much you could get to stay on/in a truck, and less to do with pesky little design specifications.

I would agree tracks for sand. I'm just wondering if it worked at all. The upright supports don't seem near sturdy enough to handle the torque.

I would tend to agree with you. Some of these pictures are down right hilarious. It makes me wonder if that house made it to it's destination. There are still some today who try to skirt the law in a similar fashion, just not as obvious. That's why there's scale houses and inspectors on the highways, and an entire commercial enforcement division in our State Patrol.

Never mind the horse, load the wagon.

As far as commercial enforcement, there are so many crazy laws and codes, no one can ever be 100% legal. A brand new truck with a fresh on the clock driver can be put out of service if an enforcement officer wants to, because they can always find something.

Hey, he has dual rear wheels. He is good to go.
Right hand drive. Is this in England?
I'm also guessing that he is at his destination.

I'm sure the pic is from the States. RHD was common prior to the Model T's LHD changing the driving world. And, moving houses back in the day was also very common.

You make a good point about the destination. It could very well be. I guess I was imagining the truck removing the house, just coming down off the curb and seeing that house rock back and forth in a very scary manner.

I think that solid tires had a lot to do with the capacities
