Back in 1969 I worked at a Texaco service station that had one of these lifts. The concrete was tapered to that angle creating a pit like area under the lift, my boss said it was done that way so clearances under the car were higher to get the cars over the rails. When I had to wash out the bays I always had to mop out the excess water, a real pita

Yep, mucking out the lift pits is an ugly job! They fill up with all sorts of stinky yuck.

I used to keep a magnet on a stick to help retrieve dropped tools and bolts

One of my cousins grandkids on my Dad's side (I have, or had, 42 cousins on that side) posted some pictures he got from his grandmother. Here are some that involved vehicles.

My Aunt Frances is on the right. What kind of tractor?

My Grandpa at a tourist stop while vacationing in Fla. Three of my Dad's brothers and one of his sisters moved to the Orlando years ago.

My Grandpa and two of my cousins in Lancaster, PA in front of his Nash Rambler.

My Uncle Lloyd is driving the tractor with 5 of my cousins hanging on.

My Uncle Lloyd and Aunt Frances with their two kids the day they left for Fla. I don't know the older Plain lady. She might be my aunt's mother and no relation to me.

My Uncle Lloyd and Aunt Frances after they arrived in Fla to live, not with the car they stood in front of in previous picture.

And for good measure here is one of me with my Grandpa at my house. This is not the Grandpa I bought my 54 Ford F100 from. This is my Dad's father. He died when I was in 2nd grade.

I might have posted this picture before but since I have posted other family pictures recently, here is one of my Dad posing by his 48 3/4 ton 5-window cab Chevy truck in front of our chicken house.

I *believe* that is. Minneapolis-Moline model U. But, I could be wrong.
Thanks for sharing.

The first shop I worked in ( and later owned ) had this type of hoist but no pit and the rails had the taper up . Maybe this was the option if they didn't have or want a pit .
