July 2016 all topic thread

Hello Nor Cal, welcome to July. The year is half over already. Maybe we will get lucky and the next two months will go by as fast as the last two, so we don't have to suffer through the heat very long.

Feeling good here. Got out at 6:30 and did another round of weed whacking. All the critical stuff is done now, and we are now doing clean-up and pushing out the fire break. It's all out to 100-150 feet all around, with a few places over 200'. Our guy this morning is actually starting Saturday morning. We're going to have him push the whole fire break out to the brush line (200 to 300 feet out).

Looking good here with a slight (10*) cooling trend forecast for the weekend. Hope that things are good for all of you. I am slated to work the local fireworks show with the troop as one of our annual fundraisers with our charter organization.

Have a happy 4th of July!

Well, I can see we're gonna be inundated this weekend like always, from peeps heading down from the Bay Area and the South Bay, and the Central Valley to avoid the heat.

Forecast is partly cloudy with temps in the mid 60's along the coast.

Monterey Weather Forecast ? Hourly & Extended Central Coast Weather

I love our natural A/C weather we have here!

When you live near the coast, you get accustomed to rapid temp changes. Just this morning we were climbing up to about 78 degrees at about 8:45 this morning. Then the wind shifted to on-shore, and we were at 58 degrees at 10 AM. The graph below shows our outdoor temp for the last 24 hours.

Yup!

It's always easy to spot the tourists when it gets colder throughout the day because they don't know about layering their clothes. Although someone might think that about me because I wear shorts and a short sleeve shirt almost year 'round...even when it rains.

I like that idea, although I don't have any water toys.

Finally starting to get comfortable. I hope none of the FTE family are/were expecting a quick trip up I-5 into Oregon. The bridge Replacement over Lake Shasta had things backed up 8 miles with a 1-2 hour wait. That had to stink at 107*.

Keep it cool guys.

Wow. We are having an anti-heatwave today. Stiff breeze this morning coming from the ocean. Good day to wrap up the last of our weed whacking. We will have a helper this morning too!

Temp for the last 24 hours:

No water toys here either. And with my bum knee, I don't even go in water anymore. However, a gtg sounds like a good idea. Haven't had one in years.
