Pig roast on the beach. It doesn't get better than that. But don't ask the pig about it....
We have achieved "kitchen". Texture went on. Walls and ceiling were primed & painted; two coats. Cabinets were installed yesterday & today; including a new farm sink & wall-mounted range hood.
There was some weirdness with the electrical around the range hood, but I discovered a loose ground connection on the outlet that had to be moved from the old location to the "new" location. The hood plugs in, and has a stainless cover that is "supposed" to cover the outlet. Once I re-connected the ground, everything there is kool.
The other SNAFU was that the old waste disposal wouldn't fit in the new sink. The disposal flange is about 1/16 or maybe 1/8 inch smaller than the flange because the flange had some "dimples" that interfered. We contemplated filing the drain on the new sink, but considering the cost, that was a last resort option. Instead, we got a different disposal that uses a different retainer mechanism.
That appears to cause a different problem with the drain and vent. Think I will be making an HD run tomorrow to get new ABS pieces to fix that issue.
Friday morning I woke up to a COLD shower at 5am. I figured something was on the fritz with the tankless propane water heater, since I had checked before and there was half a tank of propane. I took Friday afternoon off to try to figure it out. During troubleshooting, I went out to verify the gas line was on... F*****G propane company, Dassels, had come on to my property, disconnected my tank, and plugged it with a special plug. Well, it's been a long time since I've been to business school, but I'm pretty sure the way to **** off potential customers is to give them a cold 5am shower!
I call the company and they're basically trying to hold me hostage. Yeah, fill out an application and PAY FOR THE FUEL THAT IS ALREADY IN THE TANK. You know, the fuel that was paid for by the last owner of the home. I'm pretty familiar with the contract to buy the home and we negotiated EVERYTHING. The owners just wanted to take their washer, dryer, and window coverings. NOTHING about propane.
Instead of inviting me to be a customer, they basically tried to hold me hostage. But on Sat a friend came over and we installed an ELECTRIC water heater. Instead of having me as a profit generating customer for years, they are stuck holding the bag. I told them to come pick up their F*****G tank, which I still haven't seen proof that it's theirs- even though they claimed it was.
Don't worry boys. My carbon footprint will be back this winter when I burn my oak in two fireplaces!
Contact your real estate agent and have them handle it. That's part of the reason they got paid.

Fat D, you might want to also take it up with the escrow company... that is rightfully an escrow issue... if it wasn't addressed, you may have no recourse.
You might want to require proof from the gas company. Something to the effect of "If you can show me the contract that proves it's your tank, then you can come and remove your tank" (then check to see if there is a clause in the contract about acquiring the previous homeowner's fuel or assuming their contract).
BTW, if they have no contract with you, then how come they were on your property without your permission?
errg... Did they give the previous owner a refund for the propane they didn't use? How do they explain that?
They claim they did just that. They don't explain.

Not too worried about it now. I'm 90% sure they will never come an claim the tank. What do they want with a 70 year old propane tank? If it's still sitting there in a year I'll make a tool to get the plug off and rig a BBQ to it or something.

Again, not worried about it now. They're a pretty badly run company. A simple trespassing law wouldn't stop them.

Funny. The previous owner said there was a gate there when they bought the place 21 years ago, but it was missing when they took possession!
