May 2016

I am slowly getting my ducks in a row and started to order parts, carb and intake should be in some time next week.

Has anyone had any experience painting the engine accessories, like waterpumps, alternators or power steering pumps? I would like to re use some of my accessories but I want the accessories look as clean as the crate motor going in.

Thanks for starting a new thread, It has been a crazy week.
Drove to Panama City Beach and had a great time. It was bike week and it was insane with motorcycles.

Drove back home friday then emptied out the 4runner of beach stuff and reloaded for a trip down to Gainesville FL Saturday morning to pack the mother in-laws apartment. We Packed 1/2 day Saturday and finished up yesterday at 2 pm then drove home. I have to unload the stuff that is staying here and get ready to drive her to New York. I will probably heading out early tomorrow morning then fly home on Wednesday.

Axel: The key is to have everything clean and free of grease and grime and don't use the cheap Walmart dollar paint. I usually clean all the grime off, hit it with some sand paper, spay some brake cleaner to get it clean then spray it with rustoleum. Aluminum stuff I just use a wire brush to get it looking shiny then a light coat of some clear.

Wife was not keen on us getting another bike but she saw a polaris slingshot and fell in love with it, begged me to buy her one. It won't be soon but it's a done deal. I will post a few pics when I get them downloaded.

Thursday it was cloudy and we just stayed around the motel, Friday was sunny so we stayed a bit later to let the daughter walk up the beach and get some sun. While she did that the wife and I decided to grab a bite to eat. We went to one of our favorite places, got a booth by a window to watch the bikes cruise the strip, watched 4 guys walk in and all I could see was their backs but they had Army Vet patches. We had to walk by them on our way out and I paused to say thanks to a fellow vet, I knew and served with every one of them !!!! The green painted bike was one of the guys and in tribute to the guys in our unit we lost in 2009.

The silver polaris slingshot is the bike the wife fell in love with, also had a Georgia tag!!! Looks like the batmobile to me.

We also went to a pizza place on the beach that a guy I just served with in Afghanistan owned. He asked me last year where I was going on my R&R, I said we always go to Panama city and he told me he owned a pizza place so we made arrangements to get together when we both back in the states. Small world some times!!!

Looks like a great time in PCB, can't go wrong with bike week. Only bike I can have would be a CanAm, wife doesn't understand turn right lean right. We rolled over with a jet ski years ago turning right, she went left, both went under. It was hilarious to me, not her.

Axel can't stress enough, clean is everything. When you think it's clean, hit it again, grease is tough. Good Luck

Love the military bike Chief.

@ Texxan are you going for the low and slow look on your truck?

I want to level out my truck once the new engine is in. I know i will replace springs but maybe I am missing something.
