I bit the bullet and bought a boat yesterday evening, It's an 1989 Ariva and I have been showing it some love today. Runs like a top, I got the plugs back in the engine where they removed them for the winter. They stored it in a hay barn so I had to vacuum the entire inside. It has an inboard 350 and the engine compartment was nasty, so I cleaned it real good with simple green and a pressure washer. The ski well door was rotten and I am working on replacing the wood on that. Also replacing the wheel bearings and putting in bearing buddies.

It looks a ton better with it being cleaned up. I still need to wax the hull but it won't be this weekend. Going to try and take her out and take her for a spin around the lake tomorrow.

That's not till closer to the end of the year. I am having one heck of a time finding grease seals for the boat trailer, going to be one of those days.

Found some at Autozone. Took the boat out today, ran good then sputtered and died and could not get it cranked again. Got it started and loaded back on the trailer, It looks like i need to do a tune up, going to change the oil too.

Hope it is something minor . Is it carb or injection?

Carb
I am going to do a tune up and check the timing. Starts right up when cold but not so good when it's warmed up. I know the choke is not sticking so I am thinking it's either the timing or a carb adjustment or both. Once it sat for about 15/20 minutes it cranked right up.

I want to get it going before the long weekend this weekend.

I know I need a bigger battery for sure and I need to check the starter, it's new but it needs a tap every now and then. I'm beginning to think I should have bought truck stuff instead...

Wife want me to tell the best 2 days of boat ownership. The day you buy it and the day you sell it. It was true on last motorhome.

Looks good. If we all did not have holes to throw money in, we would all have a lot more money and be bored silly
