Test drove this guy today. Wasn't expecting much, but Karri and I both really liked it. We'll see, but f we go this route I'll probably have to trade my truck for it.
It's a freaking bus, and it weighs over 7,000 lbs. Drove really well though, and it will tow almost 9,000 lbs.
I give you credit, Tom. I could never look past the Nissan name to even test drive it. Too many bad experiences both personally and second hand for me. Good luck with the shopping and eventual purchase. You're in a position where your hand is a little forced, and I understand that. I wish you the best with whatever you end up with.
My son installed the new modem and rotor this evening and then we went to dinner and I picked up the bill. Now everything is good.
This morning went to the camp ground to bring supplies and stuff to get into the camper. Owner said why don't you just set it up on your sight and we did. 1st one in this year. took a bit to get it in and finally did. real happy with it.
I got fed up with how everything in my second garage bay was organized with a bunch of the landlord's stuff taking over the area. Spent a good part of the afternoon solving the puzzle. I don't think I reached my final setup, but I'm much happier with it. Lawn mower is now right inside the door instead of behind everything. Used to have to take the wife's car out to mow. No more of that. I also ordered some new strut props for the tool box on my truck. In checking them out, I found the keys for the box zip tied to the inside. I was told it didn't have keys. Nice find!
Tom, 9K is pretty good towing! What does it have for a motor?
My chilton's manual for the escort came today, i found it for 2.00 on amazon in good condition, 4 bucks to ship, better than paying 25-30 at the auto parts store! I have to remove the timing belt and then disconnect the fuel rail and a few other various little things and I should be ready to pull the head off the motor.
Probably should have checked this out a little more before dragging my wife down there. The van we drove was fully loaded, and they don't deal much on them. MSRP of $41,000, and they won't go much below $39,000 for sale price, which is quite a bit more than I wanna pay. Karri is pretty set on getting her hands on one of them now. We shall see. Looking for a used one, but they're not common.

It has the same 5.6L DOHC V8 they use in the Titan. I'm pretty impressed how well it muscled that heavy van around, I have no doubt it would do a fine job with a trailer.
With the new modem the computer is really fast now and all my wife's extra components now run trouble free and fast.
More tubs full of camping supplies have to get ready to go to the campgrounds this week.
Tom, That is a one hefty Nissan sitting there. Don't they have those big auction lots out there that you can bid and finance a vehicle? Just a shot in the dark.

An auto auction? I've never known of one that wasn't for dealers only. Unfortunately my wife has her heart set on the hardest thing to find on the used market. There are used Transits and Expresses everywhere, but these seem quite rare in comparison. Closest I can find a used one in the trim she liked was Atlanta.
Advantage of the new ones is the warranty. Starting in '15 they all came with a 100,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, instead if the 3/36 that most everything else has.
That's a real good warranty. That must be a real big tipping point for the sales of them now.
Kyle, the truck is doing fine. Just been driving it really. I noticed that the bed shakes pretty bad when driving on the highway. Thought it was possibly in the old suspension, which may be contributing, but I also found a few bolts on the bed are just a little loose. I might try to get the bolts tack welded in so I can tighten them up. Those carriage bolts are a pain in the neck with nowhere to get a good hold on the head of them.
At least from the looks of it they haven't used it in a while.
Yikes. That's pretty bad.
My sister just sent me a message telling me she traded in her Acura rdx for a 2014 explorer sport. Pretty sharp looking and I bet it drives nice with that 3.5 ecoboost under the hood.
Wow that's a sketchy bumper hitch haha, it must turn when the are making a tight turn!
Josiah, I've never like carriage bolts myself, I remember we had a tough time getting the vise grips on them to stay with the impact, now that everything has settled, they probably do have some play just like you're saying. Have you tried finding and internal torx head bolt? http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7071/7...deeb1cfe_b.jpg
Something like that could help keep the head size down while still providing a feasible way to apply good torque to it and tighten it down.
Hello all! Just catching up, time flies when you miss the email notice for this page lol. So I got a new to me ride, I couldn't stand driving the Mountaineer any longer.
