Is this what you guys are talking about? Looks cool. Although billet aluminum seems a bit overkill. If/when I get a Hydra, I'll definitely look into this.

Thats the standard mount that has been out for a year or so... the flush mount allows you to mount it flush in the dash.

Plastic looked like crap, tried it.

You guys please make sure to respect Joe's respect for FTE guidelines and take this as a final answer and letting it go.

Thank you, that is all.

Excuse me? How dare you.
How about you show some respect for the users of this site? Clearly there are people here who want this product, and have been looking for it for quite some time. Your precious "vendors"/"sponsors" have had ample opportunity to meet that need, yet they chose not to. Now, someone has fulfilled that need. But, since that company/person hasn't paid some extortion money, the USERS of this site are denied knowledge of where to find it? Again, how dare you?

You're worried about running interference for a "sponsor"? Guess what? In the end that measly little sponsor means nothing. We are talking about a home-based little business. I seriously doubt they are paying all that much, in the grand scheme of things We, the users are the ones who actually matter. Paying members or not, we are the ones who drive traffic to the site. We go away, and there is nothing. Further, engaging in this sort of censorship, allegedly on behalf of, or for the benefit of, the sponsor, only serves to reflect very poorly on that sponsor.

The guy was not running an ad campaign. It was just a simple link, posted by a fellow member, to HELP site members find something they have been looking for for a long time. What's next? No links/discussion of how to buy anything from a source other then a sponsor? So, what, we can never mention AutoZone, Advance, RockAuto, Amazon, Ebay, etc...? They aren't sponsors either, so how is that any different? Or is it left-over "bad blood" between this site and the guy selling the product? I wasn't around back then, but I've figured out who he used to be on here, and that some of the "old guard" still hate the guy. So what? That's not our problem. People just want a flush mount bezel for their switcher. WE should not have to "tread carefully", when it comes to sharing knowledge and information. I don't know the guy. I don't have a Hydra, but I might one day. I would like to be able to refer back to this thread to easily locate the product when needed, as would a number of other members. THAT is what a site such as this is for; the free exchange of knowledge and information, and as a repository/reference source for that information. That includes how/where to find desired products.

What you are doing is censorship. It is wrong and flat out unacceptable.

I demand that you restore the link. It merely provides information that many users have clearly sought after for a long time. As such, it addresses a genuine need that has thus far been un-met. It is what THE USERS want. Is DP ( the "sponsor" supposedly needing protection from this evil "competitor") truly that desperate to keep people from buying this? Its not like hiding this product will magically cause people to toss their Hydra's and buy a DP chip.
Its ridiculous. There is no need to "hide" this.

Oh, and for those who are going to dog-pile in here and try to tell me to "apologize" or somehow otherwise bow down to the almighty moderator, shove it! I will not apologize, ever, for standing up to censorship, and standing up for OUR right to the free exchange of knowledge to assist each other in maintaining and modding our trucks, without interference or forced bias on behalf of a "sponsor". Maybe "sponsors" should be eliminated, as it is a conflict of interest? Let them buy banner ads or whatever, but it should NEVER interfere with member discussions.
And for those whom may wish to bring up some notion of "showing respect"; again, shove it! I will not now, nor ever, respect someone engaging in censorship of lawful, constructive dialog and exchange of ideas. ( Obviously threats, illegal activity, etc.. is a different matter).

I ended up purchasing the gauge pod spur mount from RiffRaff that is made by DP. The DP shop is only 50 miles from my house, and they wanted to charge more for shipping than the part cost. I contacted Clay, he had them in stock and sent me one for under $3. RiffRaff is 2500 miles away...

I made several attempts to contact DP via email and phone/voicemail to see about a cheaper rate or possibly dropping by to pick one up. No answer after 6 or so attempts, so I left it that. I am happy with the gauge pod mount, but would prefer the flush mount.

I don't have a Facebook account, nor do I search or browse Facebook. Maybe if I ask nicely my wife can find it on Facebook for me.

Gaugepro, thanks for posting the information and closing the loop on this thread I created because of the need for a flush mount for the Hydra.

It's about time. Thank you Joe for making the hydra palatable to me. Hide the cable and unplug/remove switcher easily.

Sous, I'll text you a link.

This forum is a business. They are selling a product. The 'sponsors' are the buyers of this product. We are pawns who participate for 'free' (unless you choose to pay...). The business has a natural predjudice toward the hand that feeds it. Nobody has been singled out for being an a-hole - even if he was/is, lol.

Am I violating forum guidelines when I answer the question "Where did you get your steering wheel?", or when I link to a competitor of a sponsor when my link has applicable information needed for troubleshooting - yet the sponsor website does not?

I totally get not wanting businesses to waltz in here and start posting ads like a circus clown, but there's a line between that and answering a burning questions that's been asked for years. Maybe that line is a little fuzzy on the edges... but I feel that line is so far from here that I can't even see it on my new boat radar.

Holy carp! I didn't realize Joe got in the business... I thought he was still pushin' somebody else's wares. I didn't see the line on my radar because it's behind me! I stand corrected Stewart... my apologies for not looking deeper into this before speaking.

So... with the jaded past here, what's the likelihood of him becoming a sponsor?

Slim to none... IB charges STUPID amounts for a sponsor rate. If they had a rate for your average mom and pop type place I would, but until I can sponsor for $30-$35 a month... Not happening.

So I dont post links, I try and play by the rules.

I've been doing this for about 8 years now, lots of stuff I have brought to market...

I dare because I am tasked to do so because I am a mod of the site. You're no fool, you know how forums work, it's just obvious you have a lack of respect for IB's business. Just because you think IB shouldn't charge entities (company or person) to advertise doesn't mean you're justified in flaunting the rules.

Paying members or not, we are the ones who drive traffic to the site. We go away, and there is nothing.
Paying members or not, everyone has to follow the established guidelines and are subject to the rules that govern the site.

Or is it left-over "bad blood" between this site and Joe
LOL, go ask Joe who has been in his corner all these years and has fought for him.

What you are doing is censorship. It is wrong and flat out unacceptable.
This is a private site, not a government run public forum where free speech applies. If you feel the rules governing this privately owned site are unacceptable, we are not forcing you to be subject to these rules. You willingly concede to them whenever you choose to post here.

I demand that you...
Sorry for interrupting you (yeah, accuse me of being petty now, I don't mind) but you can demand all you want, but if you want compliance, go demand something from your dog. He just might listen and obey.

Please find a site that will allow you to do this. Because FTE has rules that you must follow, whether you like them or not.

Maybe "sponsors" should be eliminated, as it is a conflict of interest? Let them buy banner ads or whatever, but it should NEVER interfere with member discussions.
Sponsors aren't the reason the advertisement link was removed. The only reason it was removed was because Joe isn't a paying vendor, he's a member here, and he would directly benefit from the advertisement.

I'm sorry you don't understand how this commerce works, but honestly, you don't have to understand, you just have to comply.

And for those whom may wish to bring up some notion of "showing respect"; again, shove it! I will not now, nor ever, respect someone engaging in censorship of lawful, constructive dialog and exchange of ideas. ( Obviously threats, illegal activity, etc.. is a different matter).
I am breaking the rules and may well get reprimanded for responding and posting like this because we're not supposed to administer this type of moderation in an open thread, but your post was filled with way too much emotion, and I felt that responding ONCE to you in public might help assuage some of the negative feelings you have, but we shall see.

Your choices are very clear: You opt to follow the rules and comport yourself and your posts accordingly, or you don't. I hope you choose the first.

Any further discussion will be removed. If anyone doesn't like this and bristles at my "censorship" please feel free to contact Admin and express your thoughts with them.

Joe, more than any other site you've been at, you do an excellent job at working within the confines of FTE guidelines and it's appreciated.

Good question. Can a mod answer this? I see my link to google search was removed. Can we not post links to Amazon, RockAuto and the likes either?

Dont stress it on my part... It is what it is... I am HATED by a particular vendor of this site, they will report anything, and everything related to me... Other searches will go unnoticed and unreported...

Its strictly limited to CSIPSD... LOL

And it has nothing to do with the moderators.
