rear view camera
I'm planning on towing doubles with a couple Harleys behind our 5th wheel. Been looking at rear view cameras. Being that it'll only be used a couple times a yr I really don't want to drop 7-800 on a system. Anyone use one of the 100-150 ones off of ebay? I'm not concerned with hd quality. Just reliablitity and being able to see the bikes fall off the trailer.

I have a wired camera as I've heard too many varied reports on wireless. Picture quality is good, high quality cables including screw type fittings & coiled connection cable from truck to trailer. Sourced here in the UK for equivalent of around $150

Wal Mart has one in their automotive dept....cost is less than $100
Peak 3-1/2" Backup Camera - Walmart.com
Peak 3-1/2" Backup Camera - Walmart.com
I have the above.. Autozone had it on sale for 70..
but it almost works well... from the rear plate to the cab of a full size truck... and nothing more... a max of 20 feet... but does a good job for what I need it for...
help to see trailer to hook up.... First time... but 50 feet.. NO.
and this is the second one.. first one did the same distance. and WAS NOT BAD. unless I got 2 with short range.

Find a camera that has a video out jack for whatever price you are comfortable with.
Then get one of these wireless transmitters:
Ultimate Long Distance Hulk Wireless Transmitters for Backup Camera
They are good for 1000 feet. I installed the transmitter in the rear cabinet inside the 40' fifth wheel and connected it to the 12 volt light switch. Receiver is under the dash in my F-450 and feeds the dashboard display through a Lockpick. Picture is as good as the tailgate camera on the truck and there is zero problem with reception, even though it is going through 4 walls/doors inside the trailer, the outside front skin of the trailer, the rear of the cab, the seats and down into the dash. I can park my truck across the street in another lot and still receive the picture from the camera.
Everybody I've talked to that got a wireless system with 100' advertised range has problems once they try to transmit through all the obstructions.

System I use with my 5th to keep an eye on my bike and trailer. RVS-770613-213 | Backup Camera System with Trailer Tow Quick Connect Kit | Rear View Safety You might be able to find it cheaper. I bought mine several years ago. I don't remember.

I am using the same system as wingedone from above post. I've been running it for almost three years with no problems except for the sound part. I just have never been able to get the sound to work on mine, no big deal to me it probably would end up being a hassle anyway. I did order an extra camera for my setup. I monitor behind the trailer and the hitch connection.
