2016 BS Thread...
Back from the dentist.....no problem, no pain......just a bad headache from the pain killer......I think it's time for one of Roy's naps............
Found out today that Costco / Samsung - namely Samsung - is going to replace our broken (yep, it actually broke BEFORE the warranty ran out) HD big screen Smart TV.
They are going to replace it with a Curved UHD 4K double the resolution Smart TV. Retails for $1700 more than the one we had. I'm still trying to believe this, so I guess I'll just wait to pinch myself until after it is here, set up and working.

They had a curved 4K UHD on display at Costco when I bought the big flat panel we have now, but I had paid little attention to it. It had such a steep price tag on it that I really only saw the price tag and not the TV. I was replacing our 50" Sharp Flat panel that had quit and really, that is all I was looking for. Had intended on another 50", but they had 65 and 70" on sale for cheaper than the 50" at the time so......
They still have just one 4K UHD Curved TV on display at the Costco in Salem. It happens to be the exact same model that Samsung is sending to us for the replacement. The Warden and I looked real close at it yesterday and I had a long talk with the fellow working the TV / Electronics section. He gave us a lot of info which took any of the "butterfly's" away that I may have had about the "unseen, unstudied" replacement. The Warden is actually kind of excited.

WOW !!
BTW: Who's azz did you kiss.......
Thanks guys. But I was told 7 to 10 days before the trucking company called to set up delivery. Like I said earlier, "I'll just wait to pinch myself until after it is here, set up and working."
I was really surprised by all of this. I never expected the new "top of the line" and a "top rated" HD TV would fail this soon. Then I thought they were going to fix this one on warranty and I would be happy because I was just now really learning all of the bells and whistles and tweaks on it and getting it broken in.
Now I get to start all over again.

I really didn't kiss anybody's azz, surprisingly. The long of it is;
When I called the first time, last Thursday, the Concierge at Costco was very pleasant, nice and apologetic for problem. She got on the horn with Warranty repair, got the work order into the pipe line and had assurances from whomever she was talking to that I would be contacted in one to two work days and they would set up an "in home" appointment to make the repairs. Then she asked me if she could call me back on Tuesday to follow up and make sure everything was going smoothly.
Well, I didn't hear a peep from the 'Precision TV' repair shop. They couldn't even bother to call me and tell me they were not going to come out.
Since I knew she was calling me back on Tuesday, I didn't hit the flame thrower, I just waited. True to her word she called me back on Tuesday and when she found out they hadn't contacted me, that's when the brown stuff hit the fan. I think she was more upset than I was.
She got Samsung themselves on a 3 way conference call. Sorted everything out through the weeds and then was submitting additional paperwork and told me I would be contacted within 7 to 10 days. The very next day, Samsung was on the horn apologizing and by the end of a 35 to 45 minute phone call the orders for the new curved screen 4K UHD were in the pipe line.
In the meantime, we have the bedroom / camper TV set up in front of the broken big screen. I'm using my spotting scope to see it and the Warden is using one set of Binoculars. But, sure, it's not football season so you'll have to settle for the NASCAR races and I do have 2 spare pairs of Binoculars.

...congrats Jim
