Black Oak LED

I have been putting some maintenance in the 2003 7.3 Excursion and decided it would be nice to have a light bar for those all night drives through northern ontario.

I am looking to install this BAR above the windshield

50 inch Double Row Curved LED Light Bar, Spot/Flood Combination Beam Pattern

There are some options to this light that I also know nothing about. Spot VS flood ( assuming on the highway I want spot ) and 3 VS 5 Watt Osram

But have no idea on how this affects the trucks electrical and stock type alternator..

Anybody with experience give me some insight

I'd get the 5W combo.

The 5 watt because it puts out 24,000 more lumen but draws .6 amps less.

And the combo flood/spot so you get long distance light and great ground coverage.

Not sure how much 20 amps will effect you electrical system but it shouldn't be a problem.

You may want to search for info on the 'above windshield' mounting location- I've heard of guys having issues with glare coming back into the cab if the mounting isn't correct.

Whoa...hold on there ... put this on my daughters Jeep about 6 weeks ago. Quality seemed very good. Throws a HELL of a lot of light. When you are in front of it, her headlights look like amber marker lights in comparison. Can see power towers across from the shop we did the work at illuminated over 1/2 mile away. Save you over $700...I'm just saying....

I'd get a ebay light or the amazon one above in a second. I'm running one now and it's great.

Don't go with the mounts that mount it past the edge of the roof.. If the light hits the hood it will drive you nuts and itll blind ya.. Other than that go with a good 5wire relay and you will love it!

Run 2 or 5 percent tint on windshield and glare is not a problem. We found running HID's bulbs in fog lights are better than LED's and the ballasts don't interfere with anything electrical being down and in front of everything. The deer are to scared to come out.

If you mount the lights too far forward on the roof, they will light the hood of the truck - effectively wiping out your night vision and making things worse than without the lights at all. Move the lights back on the roof, and the roof itself will "eclipse" the light, putting the hood in the shadow.
