Tachometer??

Were tachometers in these trucks ever stock? I bought a 77 that has a tach on the left side where the far left vent would usually be for air. It's round but looks too good to be aftermarket. Thanks for any help.

Nope, not factory. You couldn't get a factory installed tach until the '80 model year.

That's just like the one I bought. So that's not original? It looks really good.

That does actually look really nice. If it wasn't for the fact that I'm trying to maintain stock setup to the extreme I'd definitely be into that.

That tach does look really nice but, for an old fart like me i had to mount a 5in monster tach under the dash so i can see it, plus i had it laying around for a few years.

If you engine is running at 600 RPM, your other gauges arent working.

... it's a "sport" steering wheel. Used on later Dents, Pintos, etc. Different PNs though. You'll find 'em in the yards sometimes.

HIO is correct. You can also find them on 3bay, but the prices can get scary. Here's another look.

Impressive eye for detail........... When I shut it off the tach stays where it is. If I tap the ignition again, it will then drop to zero. It doesn't really bother me, so I haven't tried to fix it.

Thanks for the steering wheel pic! Looks like a similar Grant I can get for around $65 with adapter, but the Ford one would be more authentic...

I think I have the same tach - AutoGage 6000 rpm. Mine is mounted on the column. They stay wherever when power is lost...

I drive bumps. The only problem I have with after market steering wheels is the 1-1/2 adapter. the wheel is too close to me.
