Were tachometers in these trucks ever stock? I bought a 77 that has a tach on the left side where the far left vent would usually be for air. It's round but looks too good to be aftermarket. Thanks for any help.

Nope, not factory. You couldn't get a factory installed tach until the '80 model year.
That tach does look really nice but, for an old fart like me i had to mount a 5in monster tach under the dash so i can see it, plus i had it laying around for a few years.
HIO is correct. You can also find them on 3bay, but the prices can get scary. Here's another look.

Impressive eye for detail........... When I shut it off the tach stays where it is. If I tap the ignition again, it will then drop to zero. It doesn't really bother me, so I haven't tried to fix it.

I drive bumps. The only problem I have with after market steering wheels is the 1-1/2 adapter. the wheel is too close to me.
