A little disappointing....

I always thought I had a pretty powerful truck for what it is. But it never really put out the performance that I thought it should....

I've been talking to a guy that has computer dyno software. We've been working on getting all the details put together and getting a more accurate number. But so far, the estimates have been disappointing. My 351C is only putting out around 260HP, and somewhere around 340TQ.

Seemingly low, but beliveable numbers when I think about it.

I'd love to get 350-400HP pumping out. With 400+ torque. Gaining 100 hp or more would make me happy. We'll see what happens. Probably nothing, as it runs and does what I need it to. But maybe something. I might swap some parts, or I might even build my spare engine. 393 stroker????

Hey Garret. Those .040 down pistons. What compression ratio was advertised with those?

With the big open heads, about 8.75:1. I didn't think about that when I bought them. I was just building a stocker engine. If I was gonna do it over again I'd get some that would do 9.5 or 10.

I have a set of Australian heads with small closed chambers. Those would bump me up to over 10:1. But they are totally bare, and I estimate $600 to get them in running shape. I want to, but don't really want to spend that much money right now. Maybe later this year I'll swap heads and get headers. That would get me up around 300+

this was done with 8.75cr I played with CR in DD5 from 8.75 to 9.5 no big change in HP/TQ i then put CR back to 8.75 and changed exhaust to headers and dual exhaust 50hp difference !! so I'd say ditch the stock manifolds and get a 2.5 dual exhaust hooked up . I'll post the rerun so you can see the actual difference
