I ran a consistent 15.9-16.0 @ 83. Figuring a 4300lb race weight, that suggests 200hp.

Look at it this way, considering your engine isn't an all out race engine, your truck weighs over 2 tons and has the aerodynamics of a barn door, high 15s in 1320 feet isn't too bad for a 'work' truck.

I would like to race again and try to go faster. This time with a better setup.

Get a pair of wheels and mount as big a set of sticky drag radials on them as will fit in the rear wheel wells without rubbing. This will make a big difference in how fast the truck comes out of the hole. It will reduce your 60ft times as well as reduce your overall E.T.

Hard street tires aren't good for getting the power to the ground under a hard launch.

I think my 31s aired down to 10psi or so will hook ok. Last set I was on we're bald and petrified.

But the thing is the tire compound of street tires is made for more mileage that just grip. So Unless you can get those 31's really hot and sticky (which will ruin them for normal driving) you need track tires or "slicks" to get the most speed.

I remember seeing a canary yellow F100 at the 1/8 mile track where I used to run. He had that truck hooking up big time. Don't remember what he ran but it would tote the tires out of the hole. Kind of a strange drag machine if you ask me (and you didn't) but was way cool.......
