Psyclopse's "up from the ashes" build thread.
Look for a brown truck on Wednesday.
The Excursion expects SIX wires to be in the short harness, with an 8-hole plug on the main harness side.
The MAF from the truck has FOUR wires in its short harness, with a 4-hole plug on the main harness side.
For whatever reason, BOTH short harnesses plug right into the MAF sensor side- probably why I didn't notice the difference. I checked my notes and diagrams, and sure enough, the extra two wires are for IAT. I'm just going to have to live with it for a few weeks until my fund situation betters.
Here's the ASAP list of things I need to get done:
1) the correct MAF sensor
2) LF wheel speed sensor
3) driver door window regulator, motor and motor pigtail
4) window switch for rear door
5) mirror switch on driver door
And most important- STAY HOME tomorrow so I don't miss the big brown truck again (sheesh- I was gone for 10 MINUTES!!!)

After that, I'll probably seek out a better hood, as this one is severely damaged (and I already experienced a hood flying open on the truck- NOT FUN), then replace the grille support...
Then I'll probably concentrate mostly on the truck for a while- the plan is to yank out the locked up 5.4, and replace it with a V-10, and yes- MORE WIRING!!! I'll be replacing the engine bay harness, dash harness, PCM, all that jazz with NON-early-99 stuff. I'll probably cheat on this one and get a whole donor vehicle.

That's the plan- assuming I don't stumble across an early 2-door Maverick for cheap first. It was my first Ford love- and the first car I ever bought without the help/input of anyone else...

There was a Maverick for sale up here a couple weeks ago. Don't remember any of the particulars but it kind of looked like a hooptie. One of the guys that works with has a 71 Comet. His wouldn't come cheap though.
I spent most of today studying... Yeah, I know its spring break and school don't start back up for another week and a half, but that's just one of the ways my old **** ruins the grade curve for the young pups...
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
I'm not sure what happened to the original video I had, but it's not on the camera anymore. The trip odometer shows how many miles I've put on her up until this post...
WE3ZS sent me a pair of towing mirrors, and he really did have them packed well. UPS must have played football with the package or something. He had each mirror in its own box, with both boxes inside a larger box. The amount of cardboard alone should have done the trick.
The first box I opened was the driver side mirror- everything seems fine with it. Then I opened the passenger side mirror box. First thing I notice was the plastic cover for the door mount flops around, so I tried to snap it back in place- no snappy. When I looked in the box, I notice three of the tabs that used to be attached the the cover in the bottom of the box. I figured no problem, I'll come up with something to secure it...
Then, as I'm inspecting the actual mirror assembly, I notice a long crack in the big hunk 0'metal that actually mounts to the door. Again, I figure no problem- even with the crack, there are four bolts that hold the thing to the door, right?
So I mount the passenger side mirror, since it's the damaged one. As I tighten the bolts FINGER TIGHT, the crack spreads open. I figure I'd stop at a quarter-turn past finger tight and check it out. I do have surface-mount rain guards, so the tip of the guard does help hold the cover in place a little.
While mounted, the entire mirror from the arms out is loose for about an inch (requires almost no effort to move it. At highway speed, it just flops back and forth within that inch, while vibrating so bad you can't see out of it.
How they managed to break it like this and not break the mirror glass is beyond me.
I'm going to contact UPS in the morning to see what procedure to take. But for now, I'm back to doggie paddle ears...

The crack is a little hard to see in this blurry photo- I shoulda took a pic when it was on the truck when the crack opened up a little when tightened.
The next two show the broken tabs-
They said that they would be insured for $100 included in the shipping price, let me know if I can help in any way with the claim. Hopefully they pay up and you can find a single for the same amount. AAAARRRGGGHHH!!!!!

The packaging was from my current '08 tow mirrors from 1A and they arrived here unharmed and the boxes (all 3 of them) were in perfect shape last I saw them.
