Afternoon guys, good to see you for breakfast this morning!
ZF5 extraction was a fail. drive shafts, t-case, tunnel cover, all came out with not problems. Went to start on the bell housing bolts, top left one sheers off, top right one rounds off, mid left one sheers off, the other three come out, starter bolts both round off. I cut the one rounded bolt off on the bell housing, cut one of the starter bolts, couldn't get the top starter bolt totally cut off, not enough disc left on the cutting wheel. Xmember came out with some bolt cutting to. Couldn't get the ZF to budge, at all.
I've never seen rust this bad on the underside of a truck before, all those bolts were definitely seized in there good, the back of the motor looked like a crispy wafer, that's how bad it was rusted.
Sorry to hear it didn't go well Kyle. And to think you said this morning you brought too many tools!
Yeah haha, it was very disappointing the have it just left hanging there, not able to get it to budge. I've never not been able to get a transmission out, usually they drop so easily, very straight forward.
Well, if at first you don't succeed, try, try again. I'm sure it'll come out with enough persuasion next time. Unless of course you gave up on it. Sounds like the truck was in pretty rough shape though.

Truck was definitely in very rough shape. Not giving up, it just sucks that it's so far away from me, the guy ius going to try and cut the last bolt sometime this week and see if he can finish dropping it. Should just need the one bolt cut and then some persuasion with a bfh. I am hoping that there's no threads on the bell housing it's self, pretty sure their isnt but I cant remember 100%.
Didn't make it to GTG this weekend. Our weekends are taken up with the camp and the great group of people that we are associated with there. We have commitment with them. This weekend we got the smoker setup and burned off. Ready for a pork roast next weekend. After Bingo on Saturdays, we meet at camp site and who ever has prepared food bring it and try all types of food. Example: this weekend was Venison Salami (home made), Cheese plate (with exotic cheeses), Smoked Kielbasa with sauerkraut, and Shrimp with dip. and lots of beer. And about 20 people. Hunters, NASCAR people, Women's stuff, and Man's stuff, Trucks, Campers, and crude jokes over beer. and a good size camp fire.
We used to camp seasonally when I was very young, and I still remember the group of friends we made up there. Seems like most campgrounds have a good group of people. Maybe someday when the kids are older we can get into camping.
I should note that when the kids were young 1 and up we tented. A large cabin tent with a potbelly stove for cold weather. When the boys got to 7 or 8 we used ponchos and went up on our mountain and hunted and fished for food. All we brought was bread, milk, flour, sugar, and coffee. Then we got a pop-up. Now we "camp" with a 30 foot trailer air and heat, microwave, stove with oven. 32" flat screen TV. queen size bed, living room, Kitchen, and dining table. With 9' ceiling. Camping???

Where is it? Close enough that one or some of us could lend a hand?
