The swap meet is huge. We were there from 9 am until 6 pm and while we made it farther than usual due to the lack of kids, there were still 2 full rows we skipped. We go every spring now. Some of the Jersey guys have a spot so we have somewhere to go relax between trips, a place to drop purchases, and a nice lunch on the grill.
Morning fellas. I spent the weekend working hard on the Bronco project. I'm replacing the rusted, leaking gas tank. I got the old tank out last week, and I'm taking the opportunity to get other things done while it's out, such as spraying rust converter and painting the underside of the body. Not the whole underside of the truck, just the area where the gas tank goes. I'll eventually do the whole underside, section by section.
I also fixed the rear spring shackle brackets. The PO had them replaced already, but they were too lazy to drop the gas tank to access two of the bolts, so instead they only bolted the brackets on one side, and tack welded the brackets to the frame on the other side. I ground the welds down, popped the brackets off, cleaned and painted them, and bolted them back on with new grade 8 hardware.
I also installed a new receiver hitch (you have to drop the tank to get to those bolts too, so now was the time to install it!) I need to re-locate the 7 pin trailer plug, since the hitch occupies the same space as the factory plug location.
All I need to do now is finish painting the gas tank skid plate and the straps, re-torque the leaf spring bolts, finish relocating the trailer plug, and finally put the new tank in and I'll be back on the road.
I have a whole build thread on another forum, but nobody over there seems to be really interested in it. I was thinking of moving the build thread here or on a Bronco forum I frequent. Here's a link to the build thread: 1994 Ford Bronco Build - The Ranger Station Forums
