Ford really did well with the initial design in '99. The '05 update was an improvement. In my opinion, since then the styling is OK at best, getting worse each generation.
I agree. I personally like the '08 ton 10 front clip, with the 11 to 15 a very close second.
When did Ford actually "split" the body styles between the 150 & 250? 1997? It sure seems they're going back to the "old" way of doing things. I don't think that will be a wise decision, both trucks have a loyal following, I think the distinct differences in the models help with that. But,with both models going to aluminum bodies, probably a significant savings for Ford having to retool the factories to share alot of body panels.
They actually had 250's in both body styles for 97-99 I believe. Then they dropped the light duty 250 and kept the super duty model.
Ford has their heads up their @&$&# if they think aluminum body panels on a SD will be well received. Sales of the 150's are lagging by 30k units YTD. Several articles are already pointing out that Ford F150 may not recover this year as a best seller.
That might have something to do with them being so ridiculously priced! Some of those F150's cost more than my pretty well optioned 2014 lariat F250 crew cab.

The 150 plant was shut down for several months to retool to the new body style. They put out around 1 a minute I think so that could explain the lack of sales...lack of trucks to sell.
If this is the actual picture, it's a good thing that it is out now. Look at it this way, it's a 2017 so if you don't like it you still have a full run of 2016 trucks to order or buy from. Choice is good...
I think aluminum bodies are preferable over steel...but I've never owned an aluminum bodied vehicle. I can imagine though that those in the rust belt would prefer door corners and body corners that don't rust out after 5 years.
We will see...lets hope there are more compelling reasons to want a 2017 other than a new body.
I believe aluminum bodies will be the norm in a few years, regardless of the manufacturer, but they could've done better than this. Looks it was designed on an "Etch-o-Scetch"!

Aluminum will rot away just as fast or faster than steel.
