The bolts may be the least of the problems though. If this 1" aluminum bar has a spread of 4" or more between the seat bolts and the floor bolts that is a huge lever than can be easily bent and probably crack and broken. Even just simply using the seat the fatigue in this lever may break the 1" bar eventually at a bolt hole (the weak spot).

What kills me about these forums is this has been done a million times by now and no one gives up the information as to how.

Do you take the rails off or not (i know you do because it will make mounting it easier and safer in a wreck) and how it is done. Do you need to reinforce something or has anyone tried to extend it from the factory base since the front row seats do slide.
For 10 years of these forums there are pics of conversions and so on but not one instruction. Sad.

What I want to know is how are people getting all these millions of Excursions to swap the seats in If one out of every 4 owners did the swap and the swap has been done a million times then that would put the Excursion at roughly 4 million units...

2000 - 60,000 +/-
2001 - 50,000
2002 - 40,000
2003 - 35,000
2004 - 30,000
2005 - 20,000

Total - 235,000 units

The first part of the first year was good for initial sales but dropped off during the latter part of the sales year. Ford decreased production for the second year due to almost a three month surplus of excursions on the lots compared to a normal one month surplus. Sales declined and so did production for every year after that. Until the final year, they produced only 20,000 excursions. And of those 20,000 most were pushed down to Mexico and were sold until the end of 2006. So US sales ended in 2005, but there were still enough to market and sale for another year in Mexico. So it is possible to own a 2006 excursion but it would have been a Mexican import version.

One of the mian reasons driving the continued production of the excursion was the high profit margin on them. Ford could pocket around $15,000 per vehicle. Unforunately, the rising gas prices and cost for materials forced them to move on to revamping the Super Duty pick up line and creating the Expedition EL to compete with the surburban.

Again, this information was compiled from an assortment of web articles and most of them agreed on the numbers produced for the years made.

Furthermore that's 1 million 2nd row bench seats just sitting around not being used... I highly doubt that 1 million people that wanted to swap could even find TWO MILLION seats both in the correct color and in good condition. If it's so easy that it's been done "a million times" then why would there need to be instructions for it? I mean a million times? That's insane, and you sir are a jerk for coming here just to say that we're unhelpful. If it's so easy you make the how-to.

Did you just get literal about an expression? Wow, dense. Either way a lot have been done but no explinations. Several forums like this of people spit balling but no one saying "oh this is how mine was done" but here look at my pictures from the top of the seats.
When asked how from different people there is never a reply. Then different people post picks of ones thwy have seen.
BTW lots are converted F series super duties 250,350,450s. Not all are X's and I am very familiar with the numbers and details of the truck.
If i knew how to I would. This has been a disscussion for over 10 years. Where are the people that have done it? "Jerk!"

That would be great if i wanted to put a bench in the second row but I have read those already and ot is more spitballing. People talking about 2" aluminum rails that would definantly put you through a window. Again no answers to something that has been done for years.
You must be senile by now old one, because this was a post about captain chairs in the second row that werent the stock ones. One had econoline seats amd wondered what they were not explaining how to even put those in. Dont just read the titles and post amd call me pissy. Unless thats what you did in your shorts since you are the great old one.

I'm sorry, unless I completely misunderstood you or how you wrote your post wasn't what you meant, that bold section is covered completely in the first link I shared you dimwit. Swapping out the 2nd row bench for captains chairs.... The second one covers swapping to a bench. What are you looking to do? Swap out for something that was never an option in the Excursion? Because you're right, these things have been around for a long time and it's been done a lot (can't go agitating Jon by calling it a million ), as well as documented. You rolled into a thread talking about swapping out the bench for buckets and bitched about there not being any instructions. I provided links for instructions. End. You wanted something different you should have clarified initially instead of getting butthurt when someone gives you the information it appeared you wanted.

You want to sit here and get into a flame war on the Internet, feel free to waste your time kiddo. I've had to live with another guy that liked to rub everyone the wrong way and I had a lot of fun doing it. If you're volunteering to be the new grunt b!tch I'll be happy to ablige you

Jon - yeah, you old fart and don't forget it I'm an old washed up has-been with nothing to contribute to anything around he- wait, I must be spontaneously channeling Brent's spirit.

They actually look like modified EX/250 seats. The seat pictured on the right has a blank plate installed where the recline lever was. If you look closely the lower valance appears to be vinyl covered instead of ABS plastic.
