Plus, bringing it back would confuse everybody asking about the V/B spring swap. BUT, maybe we could upgrade to the 2017 Excursion body mounts!, sway bar end links, oh my.....
I would love to see the return of the Excursion but some Ford factory guys told us at the Mid-American Truck Show in Louisville Ford brass had been wanting to kill the Excursion for at least a year before they finally pulled the plug. I just don't see a return. The Greenpeacers and Sierra Clubbers are even louder now than they were then.
While I would love to see the Ex make a come back, recently, I have been thinking about the new Bronco. I would really want to see it based on the Troller platform, so, I decided to play in photoshop...
I think it would be cool but with the new Transit van series they'll just want to evolve one of those to a hauler. I see a bunch on the roads already with the powerstrokes in them. The EX has a great design and you can do so much with them as far as powertrain they'll never go out of style. In 6 years and 50k miles mine has been great. Only three issues in that 50k miles, radiator, fuel injector and now the fuel pump has just gone out. It's going to be a job but well worth it. I've taken crap for owning it but it's paid for, it hauls my family with all the luggage and can tow a trailer just fine. I've had seven other people in this truck at one time and everyone was comfortable. You'd have to drive two priuses to accomplish that and I bet you'd still have to give up the comfortable and you for sure would not be towing anything. You couldn't even take all the luggage.

Nah, the Ex forum would just have two sub-forums. One would be "2000 - 2005" and the second would be "201? - Current"
I would definitely buy another NEW Excursion whatever the package! There's NOTHING like picking out the ride of your choice BRAND SPANKING NEW. PERIOD. I loved my brand new 2000 & 2003. While I love my 2005 there's something about it since I haven't owned this one brand new.
As far as bigger engine - don't need 'em AND had WILL GO BACK UP SOONER RATHER THAN LATER. Plus I to cannot stand those damn infotainment/navigation systems! I agree, just give me today's technology & today's build cycle and I'm sold.
Minus 10-12k because sticker price is worthless. My sticker on my 12 was 59ish and I paid around 49. X would Probably be 65ish for a 6.7 4wd as the suburbans are selling all day long for 58-60 for the 2wd LTZ.
I wouldn't want a 6.7 or any new diesel for that matter. DPF, EGR, pricey injectors, fuel treatments, etc, etc. Yeah, they are fast and quiet but I keep vehicles a long time and the maint is just too high and complicated on newer trucks.
My two 7.3's will go until they can go no more. I will then drop another one in from a low mileage junk yard vehicle and keep on going. I have heat, air, power seats, cruise, leather seats, navigation, rear air etc. That is enough creature comforts for me.
Personally I would buy land, a house, a garage, anything but a truck for that kind of numbers!
A vehicle is a consumable in more ways than one, land, house, what have you will be there forever and worth as much.
And for the majority, vehicles are depreciating assets. (Except maybe for collectibles). Because of the business I'm in, it would be tough for me as well to buy something and immediately lose money. I'd prefer to be the second owner.
From a FoMoCo shareholder perspective I would pissed if they brought it back as they would never sell enough of them to be profitable.
As a consumer I simply roll my eyes in disbelief that anybody pays $70,000 dollars for a pickup truck or utility vehicle. Back when they were still selling in the mid 50's is when their cost exceeded the value for me.

I agree but the sad reality is that vehicles aren't that much more than what they were back in the 70/80s'. It is just the dollar is worth so much less now due to the printing presses practically running nonstop. I sometimes throw numbers into inflation calculators to see what things would cost today vs back then. A $15k car in 1986 equals $33k now. Sad.....
I purchased a brand new 1982 Toyota pick up for $7000, I doubt you are going to be driving a new Toyota pickup off the lot for $14,000 ( base price is $24k )
excursion cost about $40k new in 2000, that would be $55k in 2015 inflation adjusted dollars.
Just speculation on ,y part but from the new diesel 4x4 trucks trucks I see priced at $70k a new excursion would not be in the 55k range.
