i think they should offer them in different versions so you can order the x body when and how you order your truck for example 2 door ext cab crew cab crew extended cab(witch is a crew cab with extended cab added on so the rear doors are a full size door and a extended cab door in a suicide style witch i think is a great idea and a would make a great rear door for a new x as well) then excursion as truck ordering options
With the fuel economy requirements in the coming years, wont happen. Plus, all the options and doors you guys want would make for crazy build complexity. Im fairly happy with mine although I know that before Im done with it, I will need to do some major overhauling.....engine, axles....but Im fine with that. In the end, if I ever have the cash, I will have Tim build an updated EX for me. Otherwise, when mine is done, I'll go out west to find a rust free ride and rebuild the entire thing.
We currently still build the Expedition and that will continue. It will share a platform with something else and have a very popular gas engine. So as far as Im concerned, if you want to tow a big trailer, get a 250 or bigger. If you want to haul a family, get the Expedition, and if you want to haul ***, get a Shelby or a new Ford GT if you can afford it. Everything else is just a puddle jumper or stylish.

Ya know--that's a REALLY good idea!- that's why it will probably never happen

Sorry if this sounds like a commercial.
Thats the issue though, There are many people who want to tow, yet have a solid reliable SUV for the kids, the dogs and all the extra stuff, all kept dry and warm or cool depending upon the weather.
I am not against the Expi, but they should really think about offering different levels of the platform, especially since there is nothing else outside of a truck. I could just imagine a "raptor" version and a hauler version. One that is show and go like the raptor, and one with a larger (diesel) engine and upgraded suspension.

No offense to the venerable Expedition BUT it's just not an Excursion. The Expe is a really nice vehicle-don't get me wrong. It just doesn't have the cajones and testosterone an X has. One is more on the soccer mom, stay at home dad mini van side and the other is a truck SUV..(No offense to the ladies and stay at home dads as I do know many who would like the X back and appreciate it as well. Vehicles are getting like clothes at the Mall. You walk in and 90% are Women's clothes and the men's section is down in the basement in a dingy corner. We're headed for "Excursion Only" You don't have to be Excursion lonely at ExcursionOnly.com"
so so true i see the vans with that suicide door setup on one side and a excursion is kinda half truck half van i am thinking of if i can afford it trying a build i would use some salvage title doners big dream of mine but who knows
the way things are heading is wrong bring back the x! here is my thought about the whole fuel milage thing if your buying a new x the price tag will be north of 60k that being said you don't walk into a bmw dealership and look at a 760li and ask about how the fuel milage is if you can afford to spend that much then how many mgs it gets is a non issue
If I could get a new one I would. The transmission in my 2015 f250 is awesome. The 6.7 hauls butt. The mileage in town is no better than my v 10 ex. I want one!!
I would love to see the return of the Excursion but some Ford factory guys told us at the Mid-American Truck Show in Louisville Ford brass had been wanting to kill the Excursion for at least a year before they finally pulled the plug. I just don't see a return. The Greenpeacers and Sierra Clubbers are even louder now than they were then.
