You all can kiss my a$$ about the damn 5.4 being a joke. This is one of the smoothest trucks I've driven now that it's been tuned and maintained properly. I make more fun of it than anyone here but I drive one everyday. I know what it can do and I know how it feels. My truck is a beast and the only reason the 5.4 looks small in it is because of the other motors offered in the line-up. If there was no 5.4 everyone would be talking trash on the 6.8 end of story.
The V10 solely exists because of the lack of torque and power the 5.4 had for superduty and commercial vehicles.
TheV10 like 4v and 3 v heads were only an excuse to make more power with out forging a new engine when this modular engine program led to more costs spending. It saved ford nothing. Poor head flow made these mod motors terrible and a lack of cylinder sizing.

Didn't the Mustang have a mod engine? I think the GT as well - pretty dang powerful motors.
Besides, in my opinion the modular ford engine has been tested to hell and back with flying colors. Taxi cabs typically drive 300-600k miles in NYC without anything but oil service. That speaks to me b/c NY cab drivers aren't exactly saints...

I wrote modular program. Yes the mustang had mod motors. The GT had a 4.6 2 v and 3 v combos you think the GTs were powerful? They were slow as hell.
The ford OHC engines can take a beating unlike any pushrod motor hut back in the day when cabs used the 302 and 351 motors they lasted long as well. The entire modular program was a waste. Ford spent millions on designing new heads for the line up along with a new v10 and the 5.4 with the notion of using already available heads and camshafts to try and save money but that didnt work intended up being more expensive to run this program instead of designing 1 block from the begining for multiple displacements being a multi purpose engine.

To clarify GT 40 new edition (called Ford GT)- fast as hell

The gt came with a boosted 5.4 long stroke engine just as the gt500 did. BOOST!!! Common answer to any ford performance dilemna. Yet many ford mustangmdrivers got out ran by LS camaros and GTOs.
Mustang came with a 4.6
I don't see Ford EVER bringing back the mighty EX, steadily declining sales figures already killed it once, why would they do it again. Like has been said, you can have Tim build you a "new" one for just about as much as Ford would have to charge. I'm not prepared to buy one either way!
And I'm not going to tell Americansteel about my V-10 EX.

You don't need to!tell me about your v10 I know what they lack just as much as any other ford engine
