I sure would like to see Excursions made again. It's the only people hauler that survives more than a year or two where i live. And with seating for nine we only need to take one vehicle. It's still going to be cheaper to run one X than two other small garbage vehicles. Love my X 6.8l 4x4

If the aluminum F150 and the new Superduty share a cab then the next generation expedition could have the option of a diesel. Or at least make your own.

I agree that maybe Ford abandoned the market a little prematurely. But Ford didn't file Chapter 7 like GM and Chrysler did. I don't know how many units need to be manufactured to break even, but I doubt 16,000 units would be enough to justify the cost of R&D and service even using the same line as SD's use.

oh heck yeh. It's the best SUV ever made IMO. A 2500 suburban doesn't even compare.

I would not buy a new one, no real need. My '02 will continue to serve my needs for years to come with minor work to stay tip top. Sure a new 6.2 king ranch Ex would be awesome though...

Well the other choice is one of those Custom Autos By Tim (I am not related or affiliated in any way) They look really fantastic. I imagine there are other places which make them as well. 70k--well maybe higher-who knows? I would love new ones--wait 2 years and then buy one...Oh for the old days!

A full size suv would be great for my wife and a shorter one for me would be ideal. An updated Excursion would be perfect , but I don't think Ford will build it. I'll have to wait and see what the 2017 Expedition turns out to be.

I wrote a letter to one of the higher ups at Ford and I actually got a letter back, must have been around 2004 when there was talk about discontinuing. I wish I still had that letter. Anyways the guy had one of his own and loved it. In my opinion I think Ford caved into the greenies because the Excursion was labeled as the Exxon Valdez etc. I would love to see a new Excursion

" Excursion was labeled as the Exxon Valdez"

You know it's strange why you never hear the Sierra Club and other tree copulators bash pick up trucks? Wonder if 90% drive them including the Forest Service etc. Put a roof and 2 seats in a pickup truck and then it's an enviromental nightmare? Not to offend anyone here but you wonder if any one of them pull a trailer?? Always politics and politicians usually tend to bow before the noisiest group--wusses! Remember how the government used Excursions? I would like an X with a V-24
Check out this little fact:
The Sierra Club’s 15-member board of directors own a combined 32 vehicles, less than one-fifth of which are hybrids or electric vehicles. Seven of the 32 vehicles are sports utility vehicles while only six are hybrids and electric cars, according to data gathered by the Environmental Policy Alliance. (Many of the others are Jaguars)

A lot of the Sierra Club members are limosine liberals. They believe in "do as I say, not as I do."

The Expedition and Expedition EL are nearly as large and has the soccer mom/dad ride covered.

They have so many spiffy features now, if that is what you want. With the availability of crewcab pickups now along with a topper for the bed (if you want it covered) I don't see the demand for it nowadays.

I don't think Ford can made the SD pickups fast enough now, why cut production by building something 'similar'.

I also think Tim has a great niche as well..

Agree. What's the rush? These motors will easily go 300-500k. We've all got some life left before asking Tim for a 2020 F250 graft.
