The six point box ends are nice for sure. The only place I've found them around here is the snap on or Mac tools trucks. Once I broke the up pipe bolts loose I used a ratchet wrench to pull them the rest of the way. I have a set that with swivelling heads which worked awesome.
Yeah it took a while to find one, my buddy told me go to Sears, and sure enough, I think I'll still ask the snap on man Tuesday, once you have nice wrenches,it's hard to go back. Lol.
Surprisingly there were six-point box end combos in a "variety pack" Craftsman set I bought many years ago. Shortest-lived tools I ever had; they got stolen.
Well I've hit a snag, I can't get the drivers side pipe out. It won't clear the fire wall. Am I doing something wrong? I know it has to come out the bottom.
Also another question, I am wanting to replace all the hardware for the up pipes and collector, where is the best place to get this hardware? I snapped one of the bolts on the manifold, and the other wasn't holding anything, it just spun, got it out. Now if I can just get that pipe out!!

I'm pretty sure my driver side pipe is the one I cut in half to get it out. I was doing this without removing the turbo, though so I was fighting it on both ends. Seems like I'm always fighting it "coming and going".
What I did is cut it where I thought it would need to be cut to add a bellows, that way (in my mind at least) I wasn't ruining the pipe.
But how do you get the new one in Nate? I jacked the drivers side of my cab up. Bill says he turns that pipe to clear the manifold and it goes out the bottom. I have had no luck doing that like Thomas...is there something wrong with our trucks?
I wonder if the body mounts are squashed enough that you guys don't have room...
The problem I had was that since the turbo was still on the truck the pipe was still slid up into the collector. I couldn't push it into the collector far enough to get it to clear at the bottom and come loose. The new one, I was able to compress the bellows enough to get it to pop into place.
Then again, I was doing this with the trans out, so I had more room to maneuver, and I could adjust the angle of the engine to make myself more room. It's all about the angle of the dangle!
I don't think my issue and this one are the same issue. My guess, you're going to have to drop the trans crossmember so you can use a jack to adjust your angles there and make yourself some more space. Come to think of it, you probably don't need to drop the xmember, so much as you need to just unbolt the mount and jack the tail up a few inches.

Also, I just went to fastenal and got some new metric 12.9 hardware for the lower bolts (dont have any at the top anymore). Was like 5 bucks. Bring the old ones in with you and find some that match.
Thanks Andrew! I was looking for those on there, but it was on my tablet, I must have looked too fast (or not in the right place) and missed them. I only broke one bolt on the bottom, but I figure while I'm here, it may as well get new hardware, would sure make me feel better anyway.
I think I'm going to try dropping the trans xmember/mount first to get that pipe out. If that doesn't work, then I guess I get to install that cab bushing kit that I've had since I bought the truck.
I used grade 8 bolts at the manifold on the old mule. They are still holding. To get that pipe out I smashed in that bottom of the body where you probably see it hitting. I used boards against the motor and a porta power to push it in. Also a hammer.
Looks like jacking up the cab is my next option. May as well do the bushings while I'm there.
Speaking of, I know there's a tool that you need to make to remove the bushings. Anyone have the specs for what you need? I know there's exhaust pipe and a long bolt involved, but that's all I know.
Hoping to work on it some more tonight. Up Pipe hardware is ordered, and should be here tomorrow.
Progress has been slower than I wanted, but whats a guy to do? Good learning experience. I just want to be back behind the wheel of great white.
