Alberta Chat - Fall/Winter

Well, we got ourselves 127 replies to the spring/summer thread, so that's at least respectable. I'm starting a new one, in the hopes that we'll get rid of that sad old "slow post" thread for good.

Now that the kiddies are back in school, what does everyone have planned for the next little while?
I'm done camping for the year, getting the trailer buttoned up for the winter. Considering selling it this fall so i don't have to pay for storage all winter. I really think I want a bigger unit for next season. Anyone looking for a 1994 19' Travelaire Rustler with bunks?

Spent the last weekend out at Windermere with my Brother, nice area, fun to get the kiddies out on the water. Boats sure are expensive, my brother is looking at an upgrade, and it can get pretty pricey! Good thing it's not my money.

Anyway, you Albertans and distiguished guests feel free to chime in here and let everyone know what you have planned for the rest of 2014.

I thought I was a little early starting this thread, but the snow that's falling right now tells me otherwise. Several areas of Calgary had power outages last night from downed trees. I guess that snow was so heavy, it snapped a bunch of branches into the power lines. My place had power all night. So, what's the update truckers? Who got hit with snow?

Should be golfing weather again by the weekend. I have two tee times booked out in cranbrook, should be decent weather out there.

I may or may not be talking tomyself in this thread, but that's okay, I'm used to it. At least this way there is a slightly reduced chance of arguments.

Anywhoooo . . . . .
More wet snow overnight, and it's still falling. Trees are down all over the city. About a quarter of the neighborhoods have power outages. Good times.

I normally park under a big old elm tree, drove to work today, so the truck is safe, but I suppose I should park somewhere else tonight. Unless I wanted to find out what the Insurance company would give me for a crushed truck . . . .
nah, that would be a LOT of hassle.

Stay safe out there truckers.

sorry busy working out in Sask. right now working 6 days on and one off. And as far as southern Alberta goes no snow. And I am thinking of moving to a 250 gas engine for better towing just not sure how long we are going to keep the big trailer.

Working does get int he way of social stuff, doesn't it. I need to figure out a way to work about 24 hours per week, instead of the 45 I'm at right now. I think with that extra time, I could probably work on my golf game, make a dent in the honey-doo list, and heck, possibly even take on a project or two.

Key thing is, I don't really want a pay cut. In fact I'd like a raise.

Awww hell.

yup work gets busy I am working 60 hrs a week right now for the next month then I will finally get a weekend to do some things at home. Then life takes over and my daughters cheer is going to dominate the next 6-8 months.

But I wouldn't have it any other way.

Good job keeping up a conversation here, guys! Since I'm an Albertan I'll subscribe to this thread and maybe occasionally post a little comment.

I check on this thread pretty often, but I try not to post too many in a row if nobody else is chatting. I talk to myself enough in real life. . . .

Seems like the entire family has come down with a cold, that's super.

Yes it is nice to have a conversation with someone other than yourself because you can't win that argument. And on another note I get to spend 10 very uncomfortable hours in an 07 Dodge 2500 with the 5.7 and it has over 310000 the seat is so uncomfortable and now that I am driving an hour each way everyday to get to the job site. I miss my comfortable Ford.

Thanks for the info but I will slug it out for a while. And after a few discussions with my wife I think that I am going to keep my truck and get some work done to it to personalize it. With me having a work truck I am not putting many miles on it anyway. So I will keep some pics of what I get done to it.

Saw a few cars with snow on them this morning. No snow at my house, that's what I get for living near the middle fo the Calgary Heat Island. we're usualy three to five degrees warmer than places outside of town on these fall nights.

Hi everyone, there was a small amount here in Okotoks this morning and I am now considering each day a gift that it doesn't fall and stay. Winter Yuck!
