Alright thanks a lot buddy! The videos are awesome!
By the way you would happen to be able to guide me to the cab light control harness you mentioned in the video would you? Truck's in the shop right now and I've got no way of getting in there to look at it all myself.
The harness is a PITA to find. It's way up in the driver side kick panel above the E-brake. You need to reach in from under the dash and work your arm behind everything towards that little removable panel on the outside of the dash near the door jam. It's actually not very hard to get to, just very hard to tap into given the limited space to work.
I just got done installing my factory lights on my 12 f250. I still have to hook up juice yet.
A couple tips to consider.
Before letting down the headliner, raise the head rests as high as they will go. The headliner can rest on them nice and neat.
Remove the door seal on the passenger doors as well. This will allow a bit more room without bending the headliner.
I purchased a factory take off set on eBay with a cut harness that I have to splice in.
The connector you are looking for has 6 wires in and only 4 out and is a gray connector. The 4 out side should be missing a yellow with green stripe (pwr) and a black with white stripe (grnd). I need to pick up some pins for the plug at radio shack so I can complete my install.
I have not started. I didn't get the other pieces until Friday. Went to Barret Jackson Friday (didn't buy anything...GF's brother had box seats) and did Habitat for Humanity Saturday.
I will post pictures / my story once I do the install.
That's one heck of a write up with Pics! The clearance lights sure make the truck look better imo. I can't imagine buying one without them when there a $55.00 option. Yours look factory so I would have to say Job well done!
Thank you for the kind words. Hope the pictures help the next guy that tries this. Previous FTE members certainly helped me when I researched this task with their threads and pictures.
Wish EpicCowlick had made one of his great videos of this....
I did a set last night on '12 Lariat. If I wasn't doing it in the dark with a buddy holding a phone light, I would have done a thorough write up. Turned out great.
I won't say my install was snag free. I had some trouble getting the holes to drill clean. I did have to deburr the holes after drilling.
One of the lights doesn't sit completely flush in the rear of the light. I'm not sure if its the cab positioning or something else. That being said, the seal seems to be sealing just fine.
I did not use silicon because the factory doesn't seem to use it. We will see when I leak check it. The interior is super easy to take apart though.
Last night I was on the freeway for a few hours and noticed something else about my new lights. They give the front of the sunroof a cool orange glow. Also, I was traveling at 75mph and was a little concerned about additional noise from them. No extra noise at all.

Looks great! Still love mine, all work perfectly, no lights have failed or burnt out, and no leaks. Super happy with them. Best yet, because they were so inexpensive (and better built than Recon), if I ever do have an issue I can simply swap a light out with the 3 extra packages I purchased. I have 15 extras.
