What bulb did you buy for the interior? and what are you thinking about the exterior. I want a LED bar light in the front - but I also want a moose/bull bar which I should probably get first.
Main problem right now is $$ - I think the best bang for my buck are direct LED replacements at this point.
I am just a cheap *******...so I'm always trying to find the best value for my money.
I purchased this ebay kit for the interior. I felt like 20 bucks was the right price to pay for an experiment.
I have the factory lights. What I want is just an LED replacement bulb. Kinda want to do that for all of the lights that automatically come one when you open the door or turn the key on. Try and take some of the electrical load off the batteries in the deep cold.
I keep finding the entire kit - not just the bulbs. I will keep looking though...
Unfortunately, Recon is the only place I have found an acceptable LED replacement for the cab lights. They are a T shaped bulb with 3 LEDs on each side. They look good on the truck, but they are EXPENSIVE! I originally had them on my 2006 for a few years before transferring them to the 2011. 2 of the LED bulbs have failed in the 6 years that I have had them. The LEDs didn't go bad, there is just an issue with the connection inside the plastic bulb frame that cause an intermittent problem. A friend sold his Ford and gave me his LED bulbs. They seem to be better quality than the original bulbs that Recon first offered. I still have a problem with spending $10 per bulb for something so simple especially if they fail so easily. The only reason I had them to begin with was because I installed cab lights for a friend and he gave me the bulbs for doing that and a few other things to his truck. Basically I have never paid for a single Recon LED cab light bulb and it still pi$$es me off that they are so expensive! LOL
The factory cab lights are like 5 times the price of the Recon kit because you have to purchase each lamp individually, also they're equipped with incandescent lights. On a "just for looks" modification, that wasn't really worth the price premium for me.
I agree the screws the kit comes with are a joke, I threw those away, used machine screws and double nutted. Lots of silicone applied around all mating surfaces and holes, soldered onto the yellow-green parking lamp wire.
If it wasn't for the fact mine came with them from the factory, I wouldn't have them.
One of the things nice about incandescent is the snow melting ability... So I may hold off and see how that goes. I just like the idea of pulling less wattage and a little brighter bulb.
I really want to change out my fogs for high discharge LEDs as well, since up here we only get a few hours of daylight in the winter (or so I have been told) and a front LED bar - but again need to see just how much that is really needed before I drop any major coin on those. Kinda saving some wattage here to use for something else. And then m neighbor comes over and says in the winter he just drives a beater car instead of his truck, because he doesn't want to take a chance and wreck his truck...

To be fair, I am talking about melting 4 or 5" of snow on the roof. While driving they are fine.
I am told over a foot a night happens here in the "low" mountains in Alaska - often. Unfortunately, I am not in the Anchorage bowl and we get more snow here. I am also noticing that our weather forecasts are not that accurate...
FWIW, Last September the first snow fall was 8" - 10"...

You guys that are installing these yourself, how are you getting up there to do it? I'm not a short guy, 5'11", and I just recently did the first oil change, I had to get a stepstool to reach up to put oil in the dang truck. How are y'all getting on the roof to mount these lights?
This is the only option my truck didn't come with that I'd like to have, I'm not afraid to drill holes into the roof of my new truck, I've done dumber over the years, just seems like I'd need to build scaffolding around the truck to get up there, hahaha
