Been thinking of adding some cab lights to my truck. Is there a certin brand of light you guys recomend or certin colors? If so please tell me which is the best. Also how hard will it be to put them on? Any help with this will be greatly appericated. This is my truck do yall think it would even look good with them on?
Thanks guys.
Cab lights seem to be a personal preference. Some love em, some hate em. Its all up to you. I followed this site to install them Motoman's Madness Got the factory lights and harness to put them in. If you go that route, make sure you get the right harness. There's a different one for those that have the overhead console. The factory lights don't come with hardware, so you'll have to pickup nuts and washers. FYI, the nuts are metric.
I'm thinking the clear or smoked ones might look better on your rig then amber ones.
When you're installing them, remember to measure about 5 times before you punch the holes. Then measure again. I almost goofed twice.
EDIT: Forgot to mention two things. First one is adding some silicon to the base of the lights won't hurt. I put a bead of it on the light between the foam seal and the plug on the light. The second is to put loctite on the nuts holding the lights to the roof. One of mine came loose and the silicon is whats holding it on. Almost two years now and no leaks!

I think your truck would look good with cab lights. But thats a personal preferance. Have you looked into the smoked cab lights from recon? They come with the harness and the smoked cab lights. Im pretty sure the harness and smoked cab lights go for $80.00 on ebay
Its all what you want.If you have a good imagination look at other trucks with cab lights .Then you have to decide amber, clear ,or smoked lens.I think the amber or smoked lens would look good on your truck. Then you need to find out which harness you need.It depends if you have the factory overhead consol. Then go to motoman's website to read how to do the install. He has the best directions for the install .
The next thing is purchasing them .You can go to Ebay , dealership , Recon , or Ed the parts guy.Iwent with the factory look ,and bought my parts through Ed.The parts and shipping were cheaper then buying through my local dealership.
After you decide where you are buying your lights from.Go back to motoman's website and write down the list of tools you will need.
After you get your lights .Take one of the lights with you to your local hardware store to get your nuts and washers.Cause they are not included with the lights.
Then plan a day to have a good friend come over to help you with the install.
Here's a couple extra tips:
Make templates of the bases of lights with holes .
If you have a printer . Print motoman's directions . So you and your friend can read them throughout the install..
Take your Time .. Do not rush...this is a nice visual installation ,and you dont want to get teased by your friends if your lights are crooked...lol
I used blue masking tape to spread across my roof to make my marks on.
After you have double checked your measurements .Tape your templates down with the lights on top. This is for visual look . Look from front ,sides, and back .Make sure you are comfortable with their locations. If not . Do your adjustments now.
Lay a sheet across your dash and seats. This is to catch the metal shavings.
Place your lights into the holes to make sure they look right. Do another visual inspection from all sides .
After you have done your holes . I sprayed some rustoleum paint into the cap . Took a small brush and painted the bare metal where I had drilled the holes.Let the pain dry for a few minutes before install.
I did what twags did .Put a bead of silicone between the foam and plug on the lights. After I set my lights into their holes . I did a small bead of silicone around the holes from the inside. This is for extra protection from leakage
If you have some dielectric grease. Put some inside each plug before you do your connections.
I love the look of marker lights but wish that my truck did not have them... so I could install the OEM marker lights/sun visor designed for the F650! I LOVE this look!!!
I love the look of the F650,how much does the factory lighted sun visor cost,I wonder if it's vented so air can get out the back,I hear they rob a bit of fuel milage, ttyl,Gigger
It's not a hard job to do, and I think the results look great. Don't use Motomans measurements--If you read through his post, you will see that he had to "trim" the lamps to fit flush--That's because his measurements are wrong. Use the measurements in this post

Upon reviewing the link below, I don't think that there is an venting and I haven't been able to find the cost because most Ford parts websites list up to the F550 only.
