I've got a GREAT HVAC guy. Don Cunningham. He's saved my bacon more than once.
Look up Cunningham Heating and Air Conditioning in Reseda.
He's honest as the day is long, and when calling him in the past and describing my fault condition, has even suggested the most common reason and told me how to fix it myself.
I just looked up his Yelp rating, and it sux, but I would have him do my work before anyone else. He's good at what he does, but not necessarily patient with idiots.
Busied myself servicing the axles on our fifthwheel yesterday. Trying to get all the maintenance completed before hunting season starts. It's getting close to 4 years since we bought the trailer and I had not yet had the hubs off. Everything looked good, including brake shoes. They don't put a lot of lining on those things.
Gotta get to the truck in the next week or two, including a coolant change.
Don't know why I wait until summer to do these things. Sure am glad my A/C works though
Hi guys
Been a while since I've been able to pay attention for to long, lots of stuff going on in my world.
Lost my dad at the end of April. That shook us for a bit.
Finished up my house up north so my mom could move in.
The ranch is beautiful thanks mostly to my brothers hard work.
My new F100 engine started leaking oil into the coolant so that is back out and being dealt with.
And finally took a vacation for the past two weeks to chill.
Now that I'm back at work I can pay attention to FTE again.
Hope all is well with you all here.
Don was due to come over today but while messing with the controls, I managed to force the service disconnect in a bit further than I had on previous attempts and the unit kicked on. Not sure why since I'm not an electrician, but I was metering 121V on each hot wire (black probe to neutral) before this.
I'm going to replace the service disconnect when I get a chance, but the question why the fuse blew is still out there? I'm thinking the fan may have stopped and the compressor overheated but only time will tell.
Bottom line is it works now and the wife is happy.
Would I blow myself up if I touched my meter probes (on the ACV setting) to both load wires?
The documentation I read suggests the central air/heating unit is a "single phase" unit. Not sure exactly what that means but I'm wondering if I somehow wasn't getting 240V.
fuses just get tired sometimes, also the disconnect is outside in the heat and rain and after a while they give ya the big ole "@$$% you" and stop working..... and being on the roof means it likely gets baked in direct sunlight everyday.
i am assuming its a 240volt unit, and you said you got 121V to neutral or ground? make sure if it is 240volt unit you have 240volts between phase.
if you are unsure let me know i can come over and take a look, i dabble a little bit in that electrical stuff
