Got a junkyard smog pump and mounted it redneck style but it works. Now to find a diverter valve and hose...

Pulled the master cylinder today as it was leaking out the back. Got a new one on order from O'Reilly Auto.

The reservoirs were pretty clean considering what I was about to find in the bore...

The bore had dirt almost halfway up the pistons. This is AFTER I wiped most of it off.

I knew I should have replaced the master when I did the rear brakes and all the hoses......

Live and learn. But, you are getting there. Keep on peeling the onion - and crying.

Didn't I remember seeing you remove all the "emission crap" not long after you bought it? Too bad I gave all mine away to another 86 460 owner.

I removed the smog pump as it was toast and cut the mount down. Most of the other stuff except the EGR was already gone. Nevada is requiring me to smog the truck now because of an error on my part on the yearly odometer statement. So I have to get most of it working again.

Makes me glad I don't have to deal with it here. Darth would drive them crazy being a 1986 truck with 1996 OBD-II EFI. It was bad enough when he was inspected in April. The camper shell I bought has a 3rd brake light stuck in the rear window, but not connected. Since 1986 did not have to have the 3rd light, even though I have the cab mounted one, they let it go.

One of these days, when I have plenty of time, I will add the wire for it to the rear harness, the taillight harness has a short, terminated light green wire at the plug and I have the dash harness piece so I can add the circuit and put a plug in the left rear corner of the bed for 3rd brake light and a 12V source for a light inside the shell.

You can only edit your post, not delete it.

In a pinch you can use a Torx socket tapped into a drilled hole to remove a broken bolt piece...

Success! Truck passed smog today with the sketchy EGR and junkyard smog pump. The smog tech wasn't too happy about crawling under the truck to find the tailpipes though.

FYI 3/4" heater hose will work for the connection between the smog pump and check valve(s) in a pinch.
